Trey Burke and MIchigan thoughts

Trey Burke and MIchigan thoughts

Here's my story on Trey Burke and how the Wildcats are preparing for the top-ranked Wolverines. Last time out was a blowout in favor of Michigan, but NU has played Michigan close on the road the past few years. Should be interesting if the Cats come out strong.

If you're Carmody, what do you do to stop Burke?

If I'm Carmody this is how I would stop Burke.  Make him a scorer.  Take away all passing lanes, and make him play one on one the entire game.  I would pressure him full court 40mins maybe with James Montgomery and Omar.  If they foul out they just foul out.

As soon as Burke receive the ball I would pressure him 90 feet the entire game. Once he plays pick and roll, I would have the centers or big men PUSH AND GO UNDER.  Meaning Alex Olah or Mike Turner, would get inside the body of the center and try pushing Michigan's center away from the pick and roll.  Once that happens whom ever is guarding TRE BURKE would go under the screen.  If he shoots, contest the shot even if u get there late.

Ohio State did a great job with this strategy and that is how they defeated Michigan in Columbus.

Basically, if you allow Trey Burke to get in the lane, it's over.

Burke is a special talent. He was smart to stay at school another year...I think he's the best point guard prospect in this draft if he goes. He's got the makeup and ability to be an impact player as a pro, I think.
