Northwestern flashes new brand of toughness against Baylor 

The Cats showed us something against Baylor that we haven't seen in a while: a competitive spark that helped them to a huge victory. If this team is to overachieve and find success, that toughness will have to be part of the winning recipe. Here's my column on last night's game and what it could mean going forward. Enjoy.

Yeah, I was impressed by their toughness. The fouls did not deter the Wildcats from playing hard. 

To win that sort of game on the road, you need energy and heart. Sounds cliché, but those intangibles led to a critical win. 

Agree with this column, particularly the idea of "overachieving." On talent alone, I can't see NU finishing higher than ninth in the B1G. But with execution, hustle and some luck, who knows what could happen? Step in the right direction last night.

I'd love to see this team playing physical basketball all year long. I have no problem with pushing and shoving. Great article.

This was a great article.  The Wildcats have to stay consistent with their energy and toughness they displayed versus Baylor.  That effort will get them into the NCAA tournament.
