Northwestern pulls Davison's offer

Northwestern pulls Davison's offer

Pat Fitzgerald's philosophy is fair and simple: you're committed or you're not. So when Ray Davison chose to visit Cal, his Northwestern offer was pulled. He is no longer a Wildcat commit. http://northwestern.scout.com/2/1256606.html

Fitz sticks to his principles, good for him.  Davison doesn't seem bitter and I wish him all the best... except when NU plays Cal.

Seems a bit drastic.

I can understand if we did not consider him a commit, and couldn't guarantee him a place, but why pull the offer altogether?

I like that Fitz stands by his talk and isn't going to mess around with this.

We really don't know why Fitz pulled the offer.  The fact that Davison isn't upset makes me think that it may have been Davison saying he's not coming to NU.  Either way, let's move forward.

I disagree with this move by Fitz. I also wonder if he would do the same if it were Matt Alviti and not Ray Davison....

I'm in agreement here.I'm glad we don't have some coach who will roll over.

Probably not, but recruiting is an UGLY world.

Not a major loss.  Davidson not that highly regarded in the first place (2 or 3 star depending where you look).  While he may turn out to be a nice player, this is not a major loss or things would have come downn differently.  Fitz is not stupid.   We can use the scholarship for next year.

Wasn't there a mini crisis like this when a commitment tagged along with a friend to a Michigan game this year for his visit? He is still a commitment. Can't remember who it was though.

Godwin Igwebuike, who had previously alerted our coaching staff that he was tagging along to the Michigan game with his friend and Michigan commitment Jake Butt as opposed to visiting for recruiting purposes.  Ray Davison alerted our coaches that he intended to visit Cal for recruiting purpoes.

Completely different situation.

Apparently Ohio State and Notre Dame were wary of Davison's ways so they ultimately ended up staying clear of him.

Seems like a headache that's not worth the trouble.

Because OSU and ND didn't recruit Davison, he seems like a headache to you?  Really?  I love the logic!
