Capital One Bowl to pick Nebraska; NU to the Gator Bowl
A source confirms that the Capital One Bowl will selected Nebraska; Northwestern will be off to the Gator Bowl.

Hey guys...Mississippi State fan here...I'm looking forward to the game and will be checking in here some. It's always fun to go bowling against a team you don't have the chance to play very often...Congrats on a good season!

Northwestern will play in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl on New Year's Day.

All signs were pointing Northwestern to the Capital One Bowl before Sunday. However, a late flop altered those plans. Instead, the Wildcats will play in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl, Northwestern officially announced. The Capital One Bowl, with its first pick, chose 10-3 Nebraska to return for a second consecutive year. The Outback Bowl elected to take Michigan. No official announcement has been made by the Gator Bowl as to Northwestern's opponents, but all indications are that it will play Mississippi State in Jacksonville. The Chicago Tribune reports it was the Big Ten's sway which forced the Capital One Bowl into selecting Legends Division champion Nebraska over Northwestern. The two schools met on October 20 with the Cornhuskers overcoming a fourth-quarter deficit to earn a victory

Though I know you're kidding/sarcastic, I would actually like to thank Delany. The Gator Bowl matchup is much better for the #1 priority in our program right now: winning a bowl game.

A source within the Mississippi State program says it's not yet been notified by the Gator Bowl. I'd be surprised if anyone else got a bid.

Mississippi state is going to the gator. And while I'm sure northwestern will be the favorite, I am expecting a win.

I'm a Mississippi State grad, and I am looking forward to our guys playing your Northwestern Wildcats in Jacksonville. The Gator Bowl is a pretty good experience, at least it was a couple of years ago when we played Michigan there.
Pat Fitzgerald and our coach, Dan Mullen, are close friends, and are known to converse and compare notes often. Although our team underachieved greatly this season, losing 4 of our last 5 games to Texas A&M, Alabama, LSU and Mississippi, we are glad to be going bowling again this year. Should be a good game. Here's to a spirited, injury-free contest. I am sure that we will be the underdog, but it should be a good one to watch.
