Coaching Carousel

Wow.  So many coaches getting canned.  Has multiple implications for us.

The good news - I suspect we'll get at least 1 decommit from one of the teams who lost their coach, when the player realizes that if they come to NU, they'll have one coach the entire time and a good one at that (and a team with great future not to mention the most important aspect of all, a NU degree).  Thoughts as to who that might be (or they may be if we get more than one)?

The not so good news - we could lose an assistant coach or two to either be a head coach or an assistant to a new coach; hope not, as we have a nice chemistry but if we do lose, it's nice that they seek their coaches from us.

Truly sorry to hear about Hope being fired from Purdue. I have great respect for how Purdue runs its athletic programs and for the success it has had in football. The list of great Purdue QBs reads like a "Who's Who" book of college and pro stars. The school never has significant academic or disciplinary issues, stays clear of NCAA sanctions, and plays in a neat old-fashioned grass field stadium. I thought Hope was a good fit and that, given time, he would do well there. This move seems like the result of uncharacteristic panic. While I would hate to see Mick move anywhere, he could do alot worse than Purdue.

Apparently you haven't been paying close attention.  Purdue has had some of the lowest grad rates in the conference for quite a while now. Disciplinary issues?  They have a recruit serving 40+ years in the slammer.  As MR95 once wrote, they're 2 clowns short of a circus.  I say they've got all the clowns and just need a trapeze guy and lion tamer.

Their stadium is a fetid dump, too.

Otherwise, I like Purdue.
