Re: WBB 2012-13: def. Woff 85-45 (1-0)
Got there for the second half today. The JUCO center looked huge from where I was sitting and it just seemed like every rebound went right where she was. She looks like she could be a big piece to the puzzle to make this team good. She ended up with something like 7 points and 13 boards. Most importantly, everyone that played looked much improved over last year. The team still looks out of shape to me, but they were beating a much smaller Wofford team down the floor most of the half . Biggest improvement was #52. That girl was not ACC caliber last year, but looked very good today with really nice footwork around the rim. We have 2 very different point guards. MGC is a score first guard, while the transfer Brown is a distributor first. Don't know how they stack up to the ACC this year, but to me the girls look to be much improved so far; I only saw 1 bad shot today (a way too deep 3 from MGC) which is a major improvement.

52 is Kiana Evans, I believe. She had a career high in points.
My first time seeing them play will be tomorrow night. Looking forward to it.

Good to hear the report about improvement from Evans. Last year she was a turnover machine. Also, how about Breezy Williams? She seems to be starting out with improved play too. If Kody can play with good consistency as the competition gets tougher, that will be a big factor this season. Just having a big presence around the basket will be an added benefit too for the rest of the team.

I like that CKH is instructing the team to continue attacking even with a safe double-digit lead.

I really like the new PG. Very quick and can shot. Burke was unstoppable.

Re: WBB 2012-13: def. Auburn 85-71; Burke tourney MVP (2-0)
The team's play was ragged at the start, but they got it going and had a decisive win over another SEC team. They played with high energy. That was to their advantage. I hope fatigue doesn't set in later in the season and take away that advantage. When Kody and Marissa can score like they did in this game, we can compete with anyone. I was very impressed with Brown. Gatling will make a difference for us this season. We still have some problem areas. Our three starting guards had way too many turnovers. Based on minutes played, if the rest of the team had the same rate of turnovers, we would have ended up with more than 35 for the game. That has to be fixed. I liked the substitution pattern. It seemed to work well. I was concerned about us jacking up so many threes in the first half, but we finally got into a more controlled game. We need to have some consistency now.
