The whole stats system at Reynolds crashed! In the media room we did not get box scores at halftime, then immediately after the game we got just a handwritten sheet with point totals.  10 minutes later we got the real box scores, thank goodness!

I covered the game for a new publication, the ACC Women's Basketball Digest, online at ACCWBBDigest.com  Our game recap, analysis, and numerous photos are here.  (We've been doing this style of coverage over at DWHoops.com for years, so we decided to broaden our horizons to include the whole conference.)

Our weekly digest is published each Wednesday during the season, and our 2013 conference preview magazine is available for purchase.

In terms of feature games, our current NC State shooting schedule includes five more games at Reynolds.  We'll also cover State's game at Carolina and many other area games during the season.

Also, that group of Wolfpack Women who were here during Harper's first year will always have my respect. They could have easily sulked and not played to their potential when Glance was not hired.
Will she be the next coach?
I don't think she would be willing to come back to State after she was passed over so blatantly--not that I thought they should have hired her.  If Kellie goes, DY must be ready to spend around $1M for the next coach, and it needs to be either a very top assistant at a prominent school, or a current Head Coach at a reasonably high level--i.e...not the SoCon.
Seriously? A million dollars?

I'd say that's on the high end of the compensation scale (see: Coaches Salaries as of 2011 ) but I agree that State would need that caliber of hire if a change was to be made.

One million is too much for a WBB coach. I could see it if we drew like UT or UCONN but not us.

Agreed they average a 10k crowd. We had a BIG game Thursday night and had 2100?

If DY is serious about competing in the ACC, then she is going to have to commit the funds that are needed. SH makes good $ and the holes don't draw either. I just don't see NCSU turning it around with another KH type hire--there just isn't time. She needs someone that can come in and get some top recruits right away. She needs a "name" coach, and that is going to cost twice what she is paying KH--at least. What it comes down to is how committed Debbie is to truly competing with the "big dogs". I would love to see it happen.

Harper was hired at base of $247,000

Hatchell will make $360,000 in 2013, with supplemental compensation of between $70,000 and $130,000 annually and an expense allowance of $40,000.

FB prediction (2010) 3-9, 1-7 (2011) 5-7, 2-6 (2012) 7-5, 4-4, (2013) 7-5, 4-4
MBB prediction: (2010-11) 21-9,10-6 (2011-12) 19-12, 7-9 (2012-13) 24-7,12-6

I don't think there's any question about Yow's commitment to competing with the "big dogs".  Her last women's basketball hire was a pretty good one...ummm...what's her name...oh yeah...Brenda Frese.  She was coming off a national coach of the year award at Minnesota when Yow hired her at Maryland.  So I suspect if/when the time for a coaching change is needed, she'll make a good one.

For discussion, here are the 2012 NCAA Women's Div I attendance numbers (selected schools with conference affiliations where relevant, current ACC in boldface).

It's worth noting that State and Carolina drew roughly their 2012 average gate for the ACC-BigTen Challenge this week.  Also worth nothing that realignment will clobber Maryland's attendance (no 16K for Duke game, packed with $1 tickets), and Syracuse losing UConn visiting fans will further depress their already woeful gate.

I would have no problem paying a coach Hatchell type money. I think that is generous for a WBB coach. Paying a lot more than that is insane to me though. At some point don't you have to ask if it is worth it?

I have heard that was one reason Duke was not sad to see Coach G go. They were not willing to pay $1 million for WBB head coach and Texas could have her at that price.

By the time they were willing to pay she was no longer interested in staying at Duke.

Anybody know if this game will be streamed online anywhere?   I have DirecTV but they don't carry CST.   I think Dish might have it.

State has 13 turnovers to LSU's 3 at the half.  Too many turnovers and no defense.

Hopefully they can get it together in the second half. Three straight losses would not be good.

Did I see this correctly .... 25 freaking turnovers? That's pathetic for 5th graders. Now that we have a football coach hired, maybe Deb will turn her attention toward this train wreck of a program before it gets too late.
