WBB 2012-13: old thread; now posting in separate game threads
Promo for WBB: " Our Time" Also, in a previous thread about WBB recruiting, questions were raised about the marketability of Reynolds Coliseum. Making sure you all saw the planned renovations for Reynolds www.newsobserver.com/2012/10/0...#storylink=cpy" rel="nofollow">from N&O story

Like the potential of the women's team this season. With Reynolds being moved to 6k seats I would assume the Heritage Games will be cancelled?

JesseBolt wrote: Anybody know when the Reynolds renovation is to begin? Yow interview Part I Is there an update on the indoor practice facility? We’re going to enter into a university-wide campaign in 2013 and it’s a seven-year campaign. During that period of time, two things will happen. There will be a renovation of Reynolds Coliseum that will include the Walk of Fame and History - it’s going to be beautiful - and there will be an indoor practice facility built. I can’t pin it down at this juncture. Part of that depends, to be candid with you, on when we find major gifts. If someone stepped forward and said to WPC staff I’d like to give you a $5 million gift toward a $12 million indoor practice facility, that would change the timing. The main thing is that the campus has already approved the two projects. Why that matters is that there is a debt cap on what the university can borrow and maintain our bond ratings, so everybody on campus needed to come forward with their suggested projects. We went forward with those two and they were approved.

RE: WBB 2012-3 season thread: "Our Time"
Thanks, it looks like the timing will depend on the money.
Part of me hates to see it change but I know we need to change to make Reynolds better plus the WP HOF will be super cool. I never thought I would see the day Reynolds got AC.

Re: WBB 2012-3 season thread: Kastanek Ready
GoPack.com: Kastanek Ready to Start Final SeasonAll good things must come to an end. For Marissa Kastanek Thursday afternoon marks the beginning of her final season with NC State when practice officially gets underway for the Wolfpack women's basketball team at Reynolds Coliseum.
Though it seems just yesterday that she was thrilling fans as a bright-eyed freshman, the Lincoln, Neb., native has enjoyed three good seasons with the Pack, but is ready for more as her senior campaign has finally arrived.
"It's weird. It's really exciting. It's one of those feelings like 'Wow, this has gone so fast," but then I look back on all the memories I had from freshman year until now and I've experienced so much and met so many people.
"It's been a great experience, and I'm excited at the same time. I'm not ready to go, but I'm ready to start my senior year."

Good article. I hope Marissa is able to make it back to the NCAAs. I hope all of the Wolfpack Women get to experience that this season.

Both the ACC coaches and a Blue Ribbon panel ranked NC State No. 8 in a pre-season poll. Marissa Kastanek was named to pre-season All-ACC team. Can't see UVA finishing 4th with the injuries they have had already sustained. Miami is also overrated. Duke--UMD should be a heck of a battle this year.

Consistency is the word this team has to focus on this season said Harper. It will get us back to the NCAA Tournament # ACCMediaDay

^ This is the kind of silly meaningless statistic SIDs for losing programs come up with to try and drum up some kind of excitement for a program seemingly in a death spiral. That they had to add a walk-on to the roster in October based on tryouts tells you all you need to know about this team's lack of competitiveness in the ACC...

Most teams do have walk ons, but not all. Duke has a walk on now and she is the first walk on I can remember in 15 years. (She is somewhat of a legacy, with both parents being big time DUMC employees). Nothing wrong with walk ons, as long as you don't rely on them to be key players. WBB alllows more schollies than the men, so the need for walk ons should be "0".

This girl won't be a key player..she is an area player (Burlington) who was already at State...and this might be another reason Moser is a perfect fit for the NC State program. During her senior season she raised nearly $12,000 for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund during Williams' Play4Kay event

If she sees game time we are either whooping tail or getting ours handed to us. The 4 star wing and the number 7 nationally Juco transfer are 2 nice additions..though I to hope Harper does more on the recruiting trail.

The difference at N C State is we have actually had to play walk ons in a lot of games because of other injuries, foul trouble or depleted rosters.

NC State has not been good in women's basketball for several years.
Even the last some years of Kay Yow were lackluster.

Even the last some years of Kay Yow were lackluster. Unfortunately, Kay's illness did seem to lead to a drop in recruiting right when Duke and MD were developing top ten programs. Now its going to be hard for State to recruit at the level they need to in order to keep up in the ACC. Hopefully, if only for Kastanek's sake, Kellie can get them back to the NCAA again before she graduates.

It's possible for this team to get back to the NCAA tournament, but it will have to be because of performances superior to their current level of talent and experience. It wil also require noticeable improvements in ball handling, shooting, and interior defense. I hope they can do a better job of shooting layups this season.
