I don't understand how they could shut them down for most of the 4th quarter, and then give up those two pass plays if something didn't change defensively.

Atlanta beat the Panthers the same way this season.  Give Ryan 35 seconds and two timeouts and he can get you into field goal position.

And also agreed about not taking the field goal in the first half.  That was a stupid decision by Carroll.

Well it doesn't help if you have two straight attempts to gain just 1 yard to get a first down, and you don't hand it to either of your two best rushers in those two attempts.

Not sure who called those two plays, but that was total idiocy.

Carroll lost that game for them by going for it on 4th and 1 instead of kicking a field goal in the first half and then burning ALL his time outs before the end of the first half so the field goal unit had no chance to set up.  Yes, Wilson should have avoided the sack, but you need to have a time out in your back pocket.

The Seahawks are very young and this could be the start of a long period of them being very good.  We all know they have their QB for the next 10-12 years if he stays healthy.  Russell Wilson will go down as one of the best role models ever to come out of N. C. State.  He already is a champion on the field, in the classroom and in the community.  I am proud of this young man and how he handles himself.

That was tough, but looking at the replay - I don't fault him much for that, if at all.   There were a couple of sacks during the game, but that was by far the quickest the Falcons' line had gotten to him all day.  He simply had no time to throw it away without seriously risking a pick-6 at worst, or getting an intentional grounding penalty at best.

I guess intentional grounding would have been better (would that have stopped the clock, or do they run time off?), but it's hard to make that decision there since it goes against the normal reaction.

The fault on that play was pretty much all on the O line.  The one time they simply *had* to protect him they turned to melted butter.
