Didn't see this linked. Wilson wins NFC offensive player of the week. First Seahawk since 2005. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/b...yer-of-the-week

RE: The Russell Wilson Thread (7-5) 12/9 Cardinals
As of today I think it's between Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck for MVP. Luck could win MVP and not get OROY.
IMHO, RG3 is in the OROY lead--some Heisman glow still, "groundbreaking" NFL offense w/rookie QB rushing record--building media momentum a la Johnny Football. If RG3 stays on pace, Russell or Luck would have to crush it to beat him out.
Alfred Morris and Doug Martin are outstanding but longshots for OROY (at best). Difficult for another position to win the award these days unless they are breaking records--having a solid season just isn't enough.
That said . . . the Seahawks have never had an OROY. Sounds like a perfect situation for RW.

Russell Wilson has made believers of veteran Seahawks [Sidney] Rice, in fact, says he sometimes forgets that Wilson is a rookie. "He doesn't carry himself like a rookie," he said. "He's never shown a sign of being scared."

Seattle doesn't get the publicity that the Redskins and Colts get. This hurts Russell's chances, even though the stats are a virtual heat. Hedjhog wrote: As of today I think it's between Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck for MVP. Luck could win MVP and not get OROY.

Re: The Russell Wilson Thread (7-5) 12/9 Cardinals
This is a good article on Russell where Carrol says that they had scaled back the offense for the first 8 games to not risk crushing him if a big loss happened, but now they have opened it up for him the way they did in the preseason. Also, I did not know he is seven touchdown passes away from matching Peyton Manning's NFL rookie record of 26.

^ i said the same thing earlier in the year about Carroll obviously not letting RW go so he could bring him along slowly...
it was obvious from a football standpoint what was happening.

Yes it was. It was the same way his first season playing here too. But once a coach sees what he can do when he is just playing instinctually with the whole playbook open to him they never go back.

Russell can only execute the gameplan laid out for him.

Re: The Russell Wilson Thread (7-5) 12/9 Cardinals
PC definitely knows more about coaching than I do, but the early issues with Russell can be attributed to "scaling back" the offense, in my opinion. Russell is the type of guy that you have to trust and let him do his thing. He thrives on his instincts and is a very confident guy as well as being very cerebral. The guy can pick up an offense with the best of them. Kudos to Warren Moon for seeing this and speaking out about it as well.

Did not see this mentioned anywhere, during the Thursday night NFL game they ran a promo for a RW interview on the NFL network that will run Sunday morning. Steve Mariucci is conducting the interview and I think it was 9:00 AM?

Rich Eisen talked about this on the Dan Patrick Show today too, so NFL Network is talking up the Mooch/RW interview as well as the 3 rookie QBs. Eisen said the interview will be on NFL Network's Sunday "NFL GameDay Morning" show. He didn't say what time exactly, he just ran the teaser . . . the show goes 9am til 1pm.

Is Luck really a frontrunner for POY? They've played no one and he has almost as many INTs and TDs. smh

This guy is going to be among the NFL elite QBs, he will literally be one of the best people playing the position on earth, and NCSU frittered away any goodwill it could get by being associated with him. Seems like we've had a ton of near misses in producing superstars that could raise our profile.

Re: The Russell Wilson Thread (7-5) 12/9 Cardinals
Lot of press after bears game. Everything being said about him now is exactly what they said about him in college. Hasn't missed a beat. Bears fans frustrated they couldn't do anything to stop him say way unc fans were frustrated all their nfl players couldn't do anything to him. He just calmly and confidently beats you.
When all is said and done and when you consider what he had to work with, he may definitively go down as being better than rivers here and in the nfl.

Game vs Buffalo is actually inside in Toronto where Bluejays play, so no weather elements to deal with during game. WolfStock wrote:
