Three assistant coaches fired today.

BTW, if Chud gets the Browns job then look for Rivera to hire (ducks)Norv Turner(ducks)as OC.

Cincy DC, Mike Zimmer, is also interviewing with the Browns. I've worked with Mike for a few years and consider him one of the best in the business. Hope he gets a shot as a HC soon.

Turner is also on the short list to be the OC for the Jets and one would have to also assume, the Cowboys.  Garrett doesn't want to give up playcalling duties, but in the end it's going to be Jerry's call.

I believe I read that he may also be interviewing with the Chargers.  Not sure if that changed since they hired the guy from Indy to be their GM.  I've hoped he could get a HC job the last couple of years.  He's done a solid job in Cincy, his players love him, and you could really tell a lot about him as a person (and how much they meant to others) with what he went hrough with his wife's passing.

Great hire. Either one of the Giants guys would have been good pick ups. Gettleman has seen it all and taken part of 6 Super Bowls and been on the winning side 3 times. He can find talent, and that's a big important trait to have.

Jason LaCanfora was on WFNZ today and said that Jon Gruden's #1 job he wanted was the Panther job, but old man Richardson decided to keep Rivera.

Mike's players and others around him think the world of him. The way he's handled al types of adversity over the past 5 years only adds to the reasons peoplelike him. You may not remember but, he was the guy that had to take the reigns when Petrino weasseled out of Atlanta. Mike is a stand up guy and any organization would be lucky to have him a part of it. I know the folks around here are happy he's a part of the bengals organization.

I'm not real sure if he's going to interview in SD as it seems Bruce Arians is going to be the top choice there. Jay Gruden (OC in Cincy) may interview for that job from what I'm hearing.

Great hire! It's about time. Also, a great guy. The Gettlemans lived up the street from us when we were kids. Really excited for them and it looks like I can now pull for the panthers.

Thank goodness, Gruden has found his place in the world as number butt kisser to the NFL stars. In most people's minds several years out of the league has made him into a much better coach than he actually is.

Not a tragedy for the Panthers. Half way through the season the Panthers offense was complete dreck and everybody had figured out the gimicks they were using. This is the same guy who took a season and a half to figure out that he had great running backs ($90 million worth) and that handing them draws out of the shotgun was not the best way to utilize them all. He was extremely slow to figure out that Mike Tolbert is great at running the ball in from the 1 yard line.

I think - but can't prove - that the late season turnaround in the offense may have come from Rivera seriously fearing for his job and taking control of the situation. It seems like the day after the KC debacle he called Chud in and said "run the damn ball".

I'd like to see somebody coach the Panthers offense that can get Cam to work on his poor throwing mechanics. It might be too late in life for that, but some subtle changes would do him a lot of good.

I see nothing in his background of recent accomplishments that tells me he will be different than the rest of the failed head coaches in Cleveland in their second existence.

I guess the only thing I don't like is if you look down the road a year and you see Rivera getting canned, then you also see 3 different OC's in 3 years (Chud, 2013 OC, new 2014 OC hired by new HC).

Although it's not the end of the world, it definitely doesn't help a QB.

As an Atlanta fan, trust me when I say you want no part of Mike Mularkey unless you want all screen passes thrown out of the playbook, and you like seeing the ball getting handed off to the RB a lot. Mularkey (and DC Van Gorder) was getting fired after the NY Giants playoff game debacle, but Arthur Blank is a nice guy and let Mularkey and Van Gorder go look for other work first.
Clarity of thought before rashness of action.

Also promote Proehl to WR coach and Rodgers to ST coach.

Man, I was hoping for some new blood on offense next year, Shula has not been a good OC in the past.

Shula, among his other credits, had the "continuity with Cam" card. Meant a lot to Rivera and Gettleman

Panthers suck? here we go with that again, Cowboys finished 8-8, Panthers finished 7-9 so if the Panthers suck, I guess the Cowboys just "kinda" suck since they won an extra game this year. One team ended the season on a four game win streak, the other ended the year by losing 2 games in a row that would have put them in the playoffs.

OGH
espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id...nues-to-impress

The former BC linebacker is back on campus. Unfortunately for Steve Addazio, it's not to play football. Kuechly is taking four classes plus an independent study course toward finishing his degree (he was only at BC five semesters, after all). Kuechly led the NFL in tackles as a rookie after leading the NCAA in tackles for two straight years.

In his first season with the Carolina Panthers, Kuechly had a phenomenal season. He was named the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year by the Pro Football Writer's Association.

Sure wish the Cowgirls/Deadskins/Stillers (and whatever other bandwagon team) fans would keep out of the Panthers thread.

As to the Shula promotion, not crazy about it at all. A lot of solid OC's out there that were available.

true...........but put yourself in coach's shoes knowing that next year is most likely a playoffs or dismissal year;   probably doesn't want to start from scratch in such pivotal year

Cam Newton in the NFL is the poster child for putting up numbers and not winning anything. He will fit in fine with the Cowboys who cannot make playoffs either.
