Or because they had the top defensive end and one of the most impressive physical specimens ever in the league in Julius Peppers, who happened to play at UNC

hehehehe Probably I'm 53 and I started pulling for Washington when they hired some guy named Lombardi. I could never understand how anyone in NC could switch teams to the Panthers. I never thought they would last 2 yrs.

I'm over 40, and I grew up in NC a Dolphins/Chargers fan.

I'll pull for the step - Panthers as long as they're not playing the Redskins.  That won't ever change.

Panthers D is still weak and Cam gets no protection from the O-line. This was against the Bucs too...

Oh well. Just the first game!

We completely abandoned the run game about midway through the 2nd quarter, and the sad thing is that it was the right choice.  That weak OL couldn't open a hole for the backs if their life depended on it.

I know this isn't actually a thread about the Panthers game, but today I saw one team that spent all offseason getting better and another team that spent all offseason smelling it's own farts, and taking out full page ads in the newspaper. The results were predictable.

I'm 26 and me as well as most of my friends are Panthers fans.  We were all 9 or so when the Panthers were created so didn't have time to really be a fan of someone else.  I can understand how someone 10+ years older than me from around here would not be a fan though.

LOL.

I do think it was more a blocking issue though.  I didn't really see any holes opened by the OL.

I'm not too bummed about the game.  It's tough to win on the road in your division.  I feel pretty good about next week.  Home game against a Saints team that looks quite beatable.

The O-line today reminded me of State's when Toney Baker and Andre Brown played. Wasted talent due to poor protection.

So ready for the game tomorrow night.  Hakeem Nicks and Ahmad Bradshaw are out for the game.

Still waiting to see if J Stewart and Byron Bell will be available for the home team.  Both game time decisions.

I wonder if the Panthers will go with the same "leave receivers wide open in the end zone and hope they drop it" defense they did against the Saints

I think this is a winnable game. Only single tickets are available, so it looks like there should be a good crowd there too.

You all aren't going to beat the Giants tonight, I'm afraid. They'll be looking for a good road win.
