Kirk showed in preseason he can play this game. Bad thing is the Redskins will be unable to keep him. Too much invested in RG3.

What an awesome game. What an awesome time to be a Skins fan. 7-6 and in playoff contention!

Lots of folks on here were pissed when we took Cousins. Not me, and today he showed why. We needed a good backup QB with the way RG3 plays. Cousins was awesome today. Today's W was a complete team effort.

Cousins appears to be a baller. Comes in at serious crunch time and gets the game to OT. Tremendous job.

Nice play call on the 2-point conversion--give Shanahan Jr. some credit--and terrific block on #56 by Lichtensteiger to give Cousins a path.

Huge punt return (Koch definitely "outkicked his coverage" (seen that before?)) and solid boot by Forbath as special teams seal the W. Good home win for the Skins over a pretty good Ravens team.

There's a lot to like about this year's team. Great playmaker, solid playmakers around him, tough RB, good "bend-but-don't-break defense", and most importantly, finding ways to WIN these kinds of games now, instead of finding ways to lose them.

Hope RGIII is okay at some point during regular season. Win out, and they'll likely be NFC East Champs.

As a Cowboys fan, I have to admit the Redskins has earned my respect. I've been living in Redskins country (MD) for the past eight years and this is the first season I've actually looked forward to watching their games. They're no longer boring and void of playmakers.

If the Cowboys expect to keep up, JJ is going to have to fire Norv Turner, Jr.

RGIII doesn't think it's an ACL injury.

ESPN reporting no ligament damage, only a sprain, questionable for next week

Cousins can probably beat the Browns with a week's practice, might as well give him the week off.

Heck no. We need RG3. For the first time in awhile we are in a playoff hunt. If he is healthy, he should play.

May just be the Browns, but you can't take any win for granted in the NFL.

Great win today.
If the docs say he can play, then play him. This is the type of game that has given the Skins trouble in the past.

If (and that's a big IF) the Skins can win out (Browns, Eagles, Cowboys left) and the G-men drop one (Falcons, Ravens, Eagles left) the Skins will own the tiebreaker over the G-men and finish ahead of Dallas for the NFC East crown. Even if they don't take the division a 10-6 record likely gets them in as a Wild Card. Anything less and they probably don't make it since there are already 6 teams ahead of them.

But regardless of whether they make it or not for the Skins to even be in contention for a playoff spot this late in the season means the season has been a success. There's lots there to build on. Of course they're still a long way from being dominant. But at least they're competitive now.

What gives the Skins the tie break? Division record?

Yes.  Giants are 2-3 in div (1 loss to each of the other teams so far).  Redskins are 3-1 with games left against Philly and Dallas.  Dallas is 3-2.

I think we win all 3 but clinch a spot with 2 wins.  I think either the Bears/Giants/Seattle will sink over the next 3 games.  The Bears are most likely!  Go Skins!

The Giants play the Falcons and then the Ravens and end with the Eagles at home. They could lose all 3.   I wish the redskins would rest RG3 against the Browns. Kirk is more than capable of getting the job done. If after a half they needed too they could bring RG3 in but a games rest would do wonders for his knee.

I understand the thinking behind this...but there are no gimmies in the NFL. The Browns are a "decent" football team. This Redskins team can't take anyone lightly.  If the docs say RGIII can play, you play him.  If we were 9-4 instead of 7-6, maybe let him take the weekend off and hope we pull out a win anyways.  But these games now we HAVE to have.

Looks like Kirk Cousins will get the start. Good move in my opinion. Cousins can get the job done and give RG3 a much needed rest.

If he is hurt...then fine, don't play him. BUT, if the decision was made because we think we can win without him, then we are in for a long day tomorrow.

Don't like this one bit...

I don't think it will be an easy game, maybe even with RGIII.  But, if he's hurt you can't risk his future.

I think Kirk Cousins still gives us a decent chance.  Running game needs to step up and obviously play calling is going to be different.

Good luck Kirk!
