2012 Washington Redskins Thread, 2013 schedule released
The season may not officially kick off till September 9th in NOLA, but we do have our first preseason game tonight against the Bills.
It appears our defense should be really good this year. I've heard that our secondary is playing a lot better, and it's pretty cool that we have a former head coach as our secondary coach. I really like the addition of Merriweather.
Offense... I'm not sure what to expect. We've all got to be very patient with RG3. I think Fred Davis could finally have a Pro-Bowl year (said that before). LOVED the addition of Garcon and Morgan. One really fast receiver, while the other is very physical. Orakpo said a few days ago that Trent Williams is killing it in camp, and he is going to be one the best in the league this year.
If we can stay healthy and keep our guys from doing drugs, we could have a decent season... Hail to the Redskins!!!!!!

It's hard to get overly excited about NC State sports or the Redskins, but I am cautiously optimistic. Could be a fun year, the NFL East is brutal.

I wish Mario wasn't playing tonight, lol. It will be good for our guys though. RG3 has to get use to facing teams with those fast pass rushing DE's, like Dallas and NY.

I do my best to keep expectations tempered when it comes to anything Skins or Pack. This could be a good year for Washington but we have to remember RG3 is a rookie and can't be expected to have the kind of immediate impact of Cam. Do I think he could? Yes. Do I expect it? No. I just want him to have a positive year and the team move in the right direction. As someone mentioned earlier...... O line is the key.

Hail to the Redskins! Agreed. Unfortunately, we didn't make a lot of improvements there this off season. Much of issues stemmed from GROSS-man being a turnover machine and Beck just sucking out loud. It will take time for RGIII, but I like our chances a hell of a lot better with him behind center. Once he settles into the offense and gets better at creating and making things happen, Skins could be dangerous.

I hope Jamaal Brown is healthy by the time the season starts.
BTW, looks like Royster is getting the nod tonight. Hightower is being held out. I loved what Hightower did last year while he was playing. Luckily, we're pretty deep at RB.
Edit: Let's not forget, we are finally going to see Jarvis Jenkins tonight. His teammates have been raving about him the past few months.

I think RG-3 could have a Cam Newtwon like season. Also, I think RG3 has a better chance of having long success in the NFL...

Re: 2012 Washington Redskins Thread
I think RG3 is going to be a great one. Cam had the best rookie season for a QB in the history of the league. It will be hard to duplicate that. I suspect both will have hall of fame caliber careers. I just don't see how anyone can say at this point that RG3 will have more long term success.

Re: 2012 Washington Redskins Thread
RGIII going to be a bust. Anyone who has been following camp knows he's struggling BIG TIME to adjust to the speed of the game. He's holding the ball far too long in the pocket and he has been extremely inconsistent. Expected growing pains from a rookie and this is not why I'm saying he's going to be a bust, but I do feel that way overall. He'll get killed behind that OL and if they try to get him out of the pocket to cover up their weaknesses the kid is going to get lit up a few times.
Other day DeAngelo Hall had him dead to rights on a corner blitz, RGIII ran a keeper and turned right into him. If they were wearing pads he would have been lit up. After the play Hall ran to the sidelines screaming. "The kid had his eyes closed! How's he going to make someone miss a tackle with his eyes closed?"

So RG3 is going to be a bust because he is struggling in his first NFL training camp? Ok, got it.

RGIII is going to be good. Not good enough to beat the Giants though. You all will probably go 7-5.

Yep, because John Beck & Rex Grossman certainly couldn't beat the Gmen last year.

The Skins were good enough to beat the Giants twice last year...with Grossman at Qb... Lol, yeah I just realized that little goof up. You all may go 7-9 then. I know. That was humiliating. The only thing I can say is that the Giants for whatever reason took off both games with the Redskins. I'm sure that won't happen this year.

Two things: 1. RGIII will not come close to matching the Cam Newton's in terms of rookie production. 2. The Redskins are going to regret drafting Kirk Cousins because it will only divide the fanbase once the team starts losing...and they will lose. DISCLAIMER: I'm a Cowboys fan.

Well RGIII's first throw he threw the ball too late on the out and he stared down Garcon once the snap hit his hands.

Re: 2012 Washington Redskins Thread
QB is the hardest position to play. Rookies will struggle making the adjustment. Cam was horrible in camp and the pre-season last year. He led a TD drive on his first series of the last pre-season game(the only TD he led in pre-season) and was taken out of the game. In game 1 against the Cards he came out firing and never slowed down. RG3 has the ability to adjust to the speed of the pros. Some take longer than others but I doubt he will be a flop.

Ok Souljah Boy, we get it... RG3 is going to suck.
TOUCHDOWN!!!! Nice drive of 80 yrds. RG3 looking good so far (4/6 for 70 yards). I have a feeling Garcon will be his favorite target, lol.

LOL - ESPN's box score lists "Cedric Griffin" as the QB right now.
I was trying to figure out why they ran some trick play (Cedric Griffin pass to Pierre Garcon).

I think he'll be a serviceable QB but not the savior most of Redskins nation is hoping for. His TD drive was very nice and he settled down went through his progressions very well.

Yes, there are concerns about RGIII holding on to the ball too long but they feel that's something small and he'll overcome it with practice time.
I don't know where you get the impression they feel he's not ready to start at the NFL level. Everything I've heard on the radio and seen on the newcasts is that Shanahan and Shanahan Jr. are excited about RGIII and so is the DMV fans. Not me, though...I'm a Cowboys fan.

RE: 2012 Washington Redskins Thread
I do agree that RGIII has struggled so far in the regular season games he's played in for the Redskins. To this point, the 'Skins have been patient with him but they have a Super Bowl proven QB in Grossman there so if he continues to struggle in these regular season contests they may go to the guy who has already been very successful for them. I'm actually shocked they have let him play this many contests as the starter given how far back it's taken their franchise from where they were a year ago.
