This unraveled quickly. D-men and goaltender needs to be addressed at some point before we ever contend for anything.

Re: Carolina Hurricanes 2012-13.1 (8-6-1) 2/23 Lighting 7pm
Realignment news for this year. For the Canes, it's the same proposal as last year's with the exception of Columbus being added to it's conference. Detroit moves over to a conference with Eastern teams and Nashville stays with teams from the Midwest, West. Imagine the Preds organization isn't too happy and Detroit and Columbus are jumping for joy. No idea what the wild-card possibility is.
From Elliot Friedman (CBC):
Division A: Detroit, Boston, Buffalo, Florida, Montreal, Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Toronto
Division B: Carolina, Columbus, New Jersey, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington;
Division C: Chicago, Colorado, Dallas, Minnesota, Nashville, St. Louis, Winnipeg;
Division D: Anaheim, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Jose.
This is all preliminary stuff, but that's apparently the NHL's plan...And the imbalanced conferences will probably include a "wild card" playoff play-in.

Ward or Ellis wouldn't have matter tonight, the defense just imploded in the 3rd.

This is all preliminary stuff, but that's apparently the NHL's plan...And the imbalanced conferences will probably include a "wild card" playoff play-in. May not be a popular opinion, but the league could be set up perfectly if it expanded to 32 and put both new teams in Canada: ADAMS CONFERENCE Northeast: Boston, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec (expansion) North: Toronto, Buffalo, Detroit, Ontario (Markham? expansion) PATRICK CONFERENCE Atlantic: Rangers, Islanders, New Jersey, Philadelphia East: Pittsburgh, Washington, Carolina, Columbus NORRIS CONFERENCE Central: Chicago, St. Louis, Minnesota, Colorado South: Florida, Tampa Bay, Nashville, Dallas SMYTHE CONFERENCE Northwest: Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver Pacific: San Jose, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Phoenix I put Winnipeg in with Canadian teams and Colorado with US teams, but they could flip-flop. The schedule doesn't involve any complicated formulas and everybody plays at least twice: 6 vs own division (18), 4 vs other division in conference (16), 2 vs all other teams (48) for 82 games total. Having 32 teams eliminates the PA's issue with fixed divisional playoffs by making all divisions have equal teams. The top two teams from each division advance to the division playoff, followed by a conference playoff, then either a seeded Stanley Cup semi-final round or a Campbell/Prince of Wales Final to stand in as the East/West final. The biggest loss in this setup is the Detroit/Chicago rivalry, but Detroit has shown that they have a greater interest in moving East over any rivalry with Chicago. Pittsburgh and Philly won't be in the same division, but they're in the same conference, so they'll still play four times a year and then potentially play with the Patrick Conference title on the line in the playoffs.

What the hell is up with the camera? They are zoomed in too far - you can't see the entire ice surface. I've never seen anything like this.

Is what it is I guess, Dan Ellis had his nice little run but he looked bad last night. Just ride a couple of average goaltenders is about the only choice we have.

The boards have to be the worst in the NHL. I think my minor hockey rinks had more predictable bounces than this place.
Also, I'm sick of Jim Goodnight.

Giving up 2 goals on only 5 shots is inexcusable.
Good thing for the Islanders is Tavares owns Ward.

Brandon Sutter had 32 points in 82 games last year. I love Sutter, but if you can't see that Jordan is more talented than Sutter, I can't help you.
