MisterRee wrote: I think I would give up Murphy to get Marc. Without a doubt - but it would take a lot more than Murphy. That would just be the start. It would take something on the level of the Jordan Staal trade, which in some ways was "Murphy" (#8 pick) plus a "Sutter" and a "Dumolin" (quality NHL'er and highly regarded prospect). I was on the record when the Jordan trade went down as initially thinking the Canes gave up too much but that's what it would take (and Jordan has proven to be ready to be a point per game guy like his brother, so it has worked out so far).

I think trading Corvo and LaRose would get the deal done.

Marc Staal is an elite defenseman who is still young and under contract for a number of years. The Canes would have to give up Eric or Jordan to get Marc. Seriously.
Plus the the Rangers want to win the cup NOW. They are not going to trade one of their key players.
If Marc Staal ever plays for the Canes it will be when he is an UFA or close to it ala Jordan.

RedLight - I agree - Marc isn't getting dealt. Strictly speaking hypotheticals - to even get the Rangers interested, you would have to start with a Jordan Staal type offer. Sanguinetti and Dalpe isn't going to get it done.

Canes know they need a top 4 defenseman. Question is who do they have to trade to get Marc. I'm guessing it would most certainly have to start with Dalpe and Sanguinetti and go from there. Ha, the Rangers would laugh JR off the phone.
For one, the Rangers already "gave up" on Sanguinetti. That's where the Canes got him from.
For another, it would have to start with Ryan Murphy and go from there. Didn't know. I'm not a big fan of Murphy anyway, I'd move him for Marc any day of the week.

Apparently Jeff Skinner is out for Monday with an "upper body injury".
Hopefully it isn't a concussion from that hit that sent him into the boards on Thursday.

Might as well put LaRose on the top line and drop Tlusty to the 2nd just to please the LaRose lovers.

Does anyone know what the status on Tuomo Ruutu is? Top two lines being E. Staal - Semin - Tlusty and J. Staal - Skinner - Ruutu, would be right there with the best top two lines of any team in the country.

I really think muller missed the boat again by sitting westgarth. Teams are going to take runs at us b/c there's no fear. The other guys on the team have said they more confident when he's out there so why not have him just in case.

Hell I'm sure we had guys all over the Checkers roster we cold have brought up to sit on the healthy scratch list.
