Boychuk never showed me anything to warrant being on any NHL roster. maybe he'll find success with a ton of talent around him Pittsburgh, I don't know.

Taking my two boys (5 and 6) to their first game tonight.  We've got seats in the front row, directly behind the penalty box.  I'm hoping this is an experience that will hook them for life!

The good news about Boychuk is if he shows nothing in Pittsburgh and they waive him too, we get first crack.. so he might be coming back.. I assume we could put him back in CLT if we do that.

Kids love hockey.  You see a ton of them at Canes games and they always seem to be having a blast.

I think, despite JR's comments, the Canes are done with Boychuck.  If he can't make it on a line with Malkin or Crosby, he can't get it done anywhere.  If the Canes do take him back it will just be to stock Charlotte.  Guy had his chances and just didn't get it done.

Maybe JR can take the money Boy was making and put it towards some help on D.  I know, wishful thinking...

Both are doing roller-hockey now.  No doubt my oldest will have a blast....but I'm worried a bit about my younger one getting bored.  Hopefully, being that close to the action, it won't be an issue.

Not sure if you have sat there before, but they aren't ideal seats.  The two or three layers of glass can be difficult to look through.

But they should have a blast when someone is in the box and it is certainly great to be that close to the action in general.

I haven't sat there before.  I just found these, and they were as close to the ice as I could find at a reasonable price.

Like I said, it should still be a blast and it will be a different experience.  The kids will just be amazed at how fast everyone is moving when you are that close.

Ward and Ellis are playing behind the same defense.

Stats this year:
Ward is facing 27 shots/game and is giving up a goal every 7.2 shots.
Ellis is facing 27 shots/game and is giving up a goal every 27 shots.

Ward has played in 10 periods, giving up a goal every 0.67 of a period of play.
Ellis has played in 4 periods, giving up a goal every 2 periods of play.
Ellis has played one game against a pretty average Buffalo team.  Ward beat them too ya know.

Far too early for stats by the way....
No ifs ands or buts about it.  Ward has been terrible this year.

Ellis in net tonight.

Faulk and Nodl in the lineup too.

Who is sitting for Nodl?  Westgarth?  Ottawa doesn't strike me a team you need a "goon" against.

Surprised it's Ellis tonight and Ward tomorrow.  Usually Cam gets the front end of back-to-backs and he's not particularly great against Philly.

I've sat behind the penalty box glass before and agree with the previous poster - not the ideal seats bcause of the layers of glass.

Behind the Canes bench is interesting as you hear alot of chatter and see more interacting that you will anywhere else.

The best on the glass seats are behind the goal on the Canes shoot 2x side. You get it all the speed, the contact, the verbage.

Center ice is great about half way up so you can see over the glass.

Our STH seats were about a quarter way down section 112 just off "The Deck". Great party atmosphere on the deck and when that gets to crowded - just head back to you seat.

Who knew that Craig Anderson and Dan Ellis would have the best save percentage in the league so far. This game should be low scoring with those numbers, but as things usually go, this will probably be a 6-5 outting or something crazy like that.

Can't see Ellis not getting the start in Philly tomorrow. If anything, this at least makes Ward know he better improve his play.

Just caught up to the game on DVR. Not that it matters, but if the FSN clock is right, Bowman should have been given credit for the empty netter. It crossed with 0.1 left.

Good effort - great defensively. Very few chances for Ottawa the entire game. Still need to find some scoring from other lines, but the top 2 lines have been as good as advertised.

I thought the same thing, and ESPN had it 2-0 for about 20 minutes after it ended.

Not sure why they went with 'Chantel' either. IMHO she's pretty average on the eye candy scale. If you just want a pretty face go with hottest chick available.

LOL, but see my earlier post. The D was much better last night. Faulk being back helped a lot.

Ellis played well and deserves another start. You ride the hot goalie till he's not hot any more. Ward has been very good in the past so forgive me if I'm not willing to give up on him just because the back up had a couple of good games.

Average goalies getting hot for a time is a not rare. If Ellis was *that good* he would be starting some where else instead of signing to be the Canes back up. Not a knock on the guy, either. In the compressed schedule teams are going to have to play two goalies and it really helps to have two good ones.

I liked Harwood also.

interesting this story from June 2012 when his contract was not renewed that he hoped to stay in Raleigh.

I can understand 99.9/620 feeling committed to Mike Maniscalco, but surprising that Harwood is silent. Did Hurricanes threaten a Code Red on anyone who hired him on air?
