Amerson Shines at NFL Combine

Amerson Shines at NFL Combine

Our boy, CB David Amerson ran a 4.44 40, which exceeded most observers' expectations!  Yours truly's included.

This might push Amerson into the lower 1st or high 2nd!

Way to go, DA!!

The way he was abused by fans this season, you can add him to the list of ex-players who claim their high school as alma mater.

The abuse he received by fans pales in comparison to the abuse he received by opposing QBs and WRs.

Re: Amerson Shines at NFL Combine

Amerson did well, but Wolff owned him at the combine.

Wolff's grade was lower, but he outdid Amerson in the events he participated in, minus tying in the 40, and I'm confident he would have at least equaled Amerson's bench press reps if he had participated.

how could not bash a player that says: Definitely the amount of touchdowns I gave up this season was disappointing,” said Amerson, adding he had the record in mind.

“I was just playing to get interceptions,” he said.

I'm sorry. I'm confused. Is NC State not his alma mater the same as me and many of all of us? This is his school.

You mean he screamed the position he's most likely to play in the NFL?

RE: Amerson Shines at NFL Combine

NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said Amerson caught the ball well and moved smoothly through the field drills. Seemed like he was pretty impressed with Amerson's talent as a CB overall.

Looked to me like it was more issues with technique than anything else.

Kid came out as a true junior.  Shouldn't be completely unexpected.

Yes.

He probably got faster last year year because of so much practice sprinting to chase down receivers from behind.

He'll go down as a great player in State history, but he could have been a retired jersey guy.

So he played to get interceptions for 13 games? When do you realize you're getting toasted again and again? I'm more worried about his wonderlic test than his speed.

I wasn't trying to turn it in to that, but I'll admit I did.  I did a poor job of pointing out that Wolff had better numbers at the combine and was the heart of the defense the last 2 years, but Amerson is the one who gets credit for 'rebounding' and ends up with his own thread.

Incorrect, all you have to do is attend.  I'm sure this could turn into another was MJ cut or was he not cut since he played JV type argument thought (IMO he wasn't, otherwise he would have watched everything from the stands).

He confirmed the core of what everyone was complaining about though... that he was playing for himself and his draft stock, and not for the team.

I guess he could be upset that folks spoke the truth, and then claim his High School on Sunday nights.  If he wants to do that, more power to him.

Obviously there weren't any offensive players on the field at the time unless they were standing at the start line and DA was running away from them.

I think he played the Tennessee and Miami games "going for interceptions" and played the remainder of the season at his old form.

You take out those two games, he had a solid year for us.  We probably don't win the Maryland game without him.

I don't think Amerson was just out for himself and not his teammates.  I think he had the entire offseason to get a "big head" and overthink his ability.  Things came easy to him in 2011 and I think he thought they would in 2012.  INT's are huge plays for a defense and they help you win games.  I think he honestly thought he was doing the best thing by trying to jump routes.

Why such negatives, I am happy for the kid. Seems like people forget the number of amazing plays he made while wearing red and white. Best production ever at his position. Gave up some big plays but who didn't on our defense the last year. I hope he does great and reps the pack well. Give him some time working with professional football coaches and see what he can do. Was there this kind of hate for Adrian Wilson when he left early? As I recall he was definitely a big play guy who got burned sometimes, but its worked out ok for him.

What three games would those be?

Tennessee and Miami were really the only bad games he had.  And we had 10 turnovers in those two games.

Yes, if he makes the play at the end of the Miami game - then we probably do win it.  But if Shadrach didn't fumble, Glennon didn't throw the pick or if Dowdy didn't whiff going after the QB - we'd have won the game too.
