I suspect the next ACC commish will have ties to FSU or Clemson. Football is king, and these are the ACC's two most prized commodities. The ACC will want to put football forward and shed the notion that we're a basketball conference.
This will also help keep FSU and Clemson in the fold. We lost MD by ignoring their needs for years, and can't afford to do the same with these two. Yes, I know the $$$ argument about MD and have read the Washington Post article but there's no way that happens if MD felt more tied into the league's power structure. We won't want to play the same game with FSU, particularly given they seemingly have some of the same economic question marks.
You can guarantee when that happens that the new power structure won't be any more kind to NC State than the current one. I suspect we've toed the line for many a year with UNC due to the BOG. I know there's an anti-NC element in the ACC and it will only get stronger when Syracuse joins. Right or wrong, I think most of the league sees us as a shade of purple, joined at the hip with UNC.
