Serious Question: What Can Be Done to get Rid Of John Swofford?

How could we facilitate a change of the commissioner of the ACC.  I may start a thread on all 12 boards since I have posting privileges.

Suggestions ???

You might as well add Syracuse, Pitt, and Notre Dame and leave out Maryland

Wait him out. I think he will retire in the next few years.

The good ol' boys club among AD's must be too powerful. If the AD's at GT, Clemson, and UM haven't marched on Greensboro by now, no need to think it's ever going to happen.

If I'm not mistakened, he answers to the Chancellors of the member schools....   not the AD's.

So you'll be content with his continued bias and favortism to UNC-CHeat for another 3 years or so?  It's okay that the league is completely based around the UNC/Duke rivalry?  Who knows what could/will happen in that timeframe.  The guy is a dunce.  He's been one of the driving forces of the ACC's current downward trend.  The dude needs to be put out of his misery, and the ACC needs someone NOW who has NO affiliation to any of the ACC schools...someone who's halfway intelligent, who has some innovative ideas, and who has some balls.

I personally have NO IDEA how it can be done, but I do know it needs to happen.

Serious questions deserve serious answers.

Swofford is hired by chancellors or presidents of university. It is their decision. Start with Woodson. If he has no interest, Swofford has the job as long as he wants it.

Dumping Swoff and giving the job to Tom Jurich, the AD at Louisville, would be the smartest thing the ACC could do.  As far as athletics execs go, the man is as smart and enterprising as they come.

He is a powerful man. Whether he is good at his job, I have no idea. And I have no idea if his job is easy. I would guess it's not an easy job right right now. It's probably stressful trying to figure out how many more Marylands he has in his current conference.

I think he is getting close to retirement age.  Not sure if we will see the ACC fall apart or not,  but once the future of the ACC is solidified, be it a power conference or the next big East, I believe he will retire.  I think that will happen in the next year or so.

I dislike Swofford because of his ties to UNC.  I wonder what happens to the ACC if UNC defects to the B1G.

Carolina 's problems are like those of the Titanic.  They've hit an iceberg and we've only seen 10% of the problem so far.  But, the ship is sinking - make no mistake about that.

Yep.  If UNC goes to the B1G, then Swoff will be gone.  Of course the conference will quickly fall apart too.  I hate Swoff and I hate UNC, but we're in a bit Catch-22.  @#($)*@#$

The best hope is just to wait him out and position ourselves to capitalize.  Of course, they next commissioner will have ties to the new schools (I'd suspect FSU), so the Big 4 aren't going to get any favors.

NC State is going to suffer from the reign of the Swoff for many years to come.

Why not just wait for him to retire or do something illegal...

Swoff is just waiting for the UNC-CHeat scandal to be completely resolved.  Doesn't want the new guy to come in an add a year to two more to the post season bowl ban.
