I grew up in Michigan (been in NC for about 35 years), so I'm biased.  If not for our location, I would want the B1G ahead of any other conference, including the SEC.  But, we are a southern school, and I just don't see our culture mixing with the Great Lakes culture.  The next most logical schools for the B1G to poach would be Duke and GT.

That's easy to say if you live in Colorado.  For those of us who are back in the Southern part of Heaven, it's a different thing altogether.  Let's see- a road trip to Atlanta, or one to Lansing?  Miami, or Bloomington?  Tallahassee, or Urbana?

It has nothing to do with where I live. It has everything to do with personal preference of conferences. This should have been the tip-off:

"It is a well run conference that does things the right way."

PB, they let Maryland in.  That casts serious doubt on how 'well run' they are.

Not a whole lot of advantages to us moving to the big 10 unless the ACC ceases to exist. A little more money in football. Basketball is sometimes painful to watch in the big 10 historically and then we'd be paired with our closest opponent which would be Maryland. No thanks.

I hope/think the ACC stays strong and we stay in it.

None of us know what the future brings for each conference or even the NCAA itself. Conferences and individual schools that made new alliances for TV market money may yet rue the day they did so.

Big 10 is a better basketball conference and not as crooked as the SEC. I'd much rather align with them than SEC.

My order of preference:

1. SEC
2. B1G
3. Big 12
4. Any conference other than ACC

The rumors down here in LA from a LSU Lawyer friend of mine is that the SEC will be making a big play for us this summer. Only hear/say that I hope is not true.

I have always hated the B10, and would hate going to it. I know academically it is a pretty great conference, but from a sports perspective I have always hated the 3 yards and a cloud of dust football tradition as well as basketball that in general has tended to be rather slow to watch.

If we are going somewhere, go SEC. Or go back to the southern conference and de-emphasize sports. Seriously.

What if the ACC goes bye-bye, and we don't get into the SEC? I could see a 4th superconference of the BIG 16 - east and west. West being 8 of the old BIG12 TX, OK, KS, KSU,etc and East with WVU, FSU, Clem, NC St, the Cheats, VT, GT, Miami. Would certainly be some inter-regional tv draw.
OK, maybe I'm delusional. I just don't want in the B1G.

While I agree with your points regarding style of play, I would submit that, at least in football, the old "3 yards and a cloud of dust" is nowhere near as prevalent as it once was, thanks to guys like Brady Hoke, Urban Meyer and some others.

Right now we have 3 conference road games within an hour and a half, move to the B10 and our closest (non-Twerp) road game is what, Penn State? Ohio State? No thank you.

or unc-ch could take the approach Texas has taken with Texas A&M to SEC and refuse to schedule NC State in any sport since they are not in same conference.
