jee whiz guys. disappointed! really? I'm hone stly starting to doubt that. you act as if you couldn't care less. throw a chair raise hell do somthing. I swear herb the animal sendek showed more fire. and his teams played better defense. we might have hated the style of play the schedule the recruiting but damit his guys played defense. did they weave and heave? yes was it hard to watch yes have we already reached herbs potential in one year yes but the records are almost the same. with better talent. its the defense. it stinks

Re: Gottfried: "We're Disappointed"
You guys aren't getting it. This team is not emotional. Coach realizes that and feels like there are limited funds in the bank of emotion from which to withdraw. He's saving those withdrawals for the post season. Last years last-team-in emotion opened the Bank of Emotion's door. Note how passionate his tone was during our run vs during the season. Feels like he's doing the same now. Like Jimmy Johnson (cowboys coach not the driver) he's as much of a psychologist as a coach and may need to be with the players he inherited. Seems like the freshman he recruited are more emotionally invested so things may change over time.
He's obviously good at reading folks wants/needs or else he wouldn't be such a good recruiter.
(Disclaimer I may be saying this to simply give myself hope after yesterday). If this is correct he's a genius.

RE: Gottfried: "We're Disappointed"
The coach is saying what he has to say. Do you guys really want him to throw a tantrum (and some chairs) ? Give me a break.
I know everybody hates losing just like I do but the comments we make after a loss are just plain childish. Do you really think it is as simple as reminding someone to "play harder" ? Seriously, do you think that's all there is to it ?
Oh...yeah...."give CJ an ultimatum"....why didnt I think of that ? Hope the rest of the Coaches don't figure out how easy it is.
That was a loss that was tough to take, but no reason to bash our guys and our Coaches. Every one of them feels worse than we do and a little support is not asking too much. They are putting in a lot more effort than we are. Heck, I can see it now.....we'll be setting up the fire the coach websites soon because we split with Carolina. Good grief !!

RE: Gottfried: "We're Disappointed"
Look, we were in the damn game until the eight minute mark. The game seemed to get more fast paced and a little out of control for both teams. Turnovers, running back and forth, diving for loose balls, etc....
The holes seemed fresh and sharp during this time. Remember, Roy benched his entire starting lineup earlier. They sat for several minutes and during a timeout.
We could have really used a timeout at the beginning of this UNC run. We were gassed and were on the ropes. Once the lead spread out to eight, we were toast. If we are going to play with a short bench, at least use timeouts to rest players, especially when the pace of the game picks up like that.

Re: Gottfried: "We're Disappointed"
otf is spot on. gott is walking a tightrope with cj. there is only so much discipline he can hand out to him before he shuts down and becomes a cancer.
i think that the team understands this..they know they need calvin to be involved and selfless to be an excellent team, but they have to walk on eggshells because of his ego. i hope cj can do some soul-searching and put the team first for the rest of the season.

I'm disappointed too.
I hope that this isn't the peak.
Having said that, do have to appreciate that things are better now than they've been in a long time - just incrementally.

Whats better? We have four games left and I only see us winning two of them. We will be in the NIT this year folks!
I wonder what stunt Gottfried will pull during the Red/White game this year?

Look, to say "we were in the game with 8 minutes to go" is for crap. We should have creamed those punks. Leslie was their Player of the Game. 6 turnovers all by his lonesome in the first half. Are you kidding? At what point do you save the kid some embarrassment Gottfried? Yank him. We were playing well without him in the second half as Wood started getting hot. Then as soon as Leslie comes back in UNC takes over. You can't win when it's 4 and a half against 5. Doesn't matter how good you are. And you can't play good team defense even in 4 players are busting their arses but you have one player giving a Chavis League effort.

Re: Gottfried: "We're Disappointed"
Disappointed is when you go to the grocery store and realized you forgot your primary needed item or something like that. Roy's unc cheat teams are 10-0 at home against State and 19-2 total. This 224 game of the series was lost by a State team with superior talent and upper class men who had never won at the nose dome in their entire career. Plus they wore black which even isn't the identity of the RED and WHITE from State. How about something a little Stronger than that coach! Earn your paycheck!

If CJ Leslie doesn't want to be a team player, he can get the hell off the team. Players hate when one guy is bringing them down. It's not obvious when they speak to the media, but it's obvious in play.

Throw a chair to raise some hell? Geez, I now get why everyone on the outside makes fun of our fan base. A lot of you truly don't get it. Truly sounds like some of you would beat your own children. Is that what you do? I actually take that back because I hope most posting such asinine comments don't have kids. Embarrassing.

I for one enjoy watching him play (yes he sucked yesterday)most games. Honestly I don't understand the venom being directed at him since the game yesterday. Of course he didn't play well. We all know that and he knows it as well. Anyone with functioning eyesight and two brain cells to rub together knows it. But some of you on here, and you know who you are, are making it out to be that CJL is some sort of cancer on the team or that he intentionally sabotaged the effort. I couldn't disagree more. Look - he had an off game. There are days Tiger Woods can't find the fairway. There are days when the best pitchers in baseball can't find the strike zone. There are days where Kobe Bryant shoots 1 of 15 from the field. It happens. Yeah - we need CJL to be more consistent. To step up and bring it in big games. We all know that. But, IMHO, it's wrong of some of you to throw a 20 year old kid under the damn bus just because he had an off-game. Truthfully I blame Gott a lot more than CJL. He's got to recognize that CJL just doesn't have it today and leave him over on the bench beside him.

Re: Gottfried: "We're Disappointed"
This was a press conference. Coach is not going to present it in any other way. He is not like Frank Martin or Bobby Knight or a few others who spit fire and brimstone. We have issues with some players who are basically talented but also have real weaknesses. If they are not willing to accept the fact and work like hell on overcoming those weaknesses, this is what we are going to see. A lot of times CJL decides he can get it done playing one-on-one ball which usually ends up being one-on-three and he loses. That's the head problem, and it's bound to affect the rest of the team.

But the point remains. How is it asinine to show some anger at some people who are not performing? I'm not saying go ahead and do a Bobby Knight and choke him out, but for God's sake, don't just accept mediocrity like that.
