Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers stated that if State makes it to the final 4 he will donate 10k to the V foundation. If they don't make it he'll donate 5k. He's sitting in of The Drive on WFNZ this evening with Taylor Z.

For all the bonehead stuff he may do....it is all greatly outweighed by his contributions to the community. Charlotte is lucky to have him. If his teammates had his fire, they would NEVER lose.

He said pretty much that it so unlikely that we would make it to the final four he would bet 10k we wouldn't, the guys on the show called him on it, so he said he would make the donation b/c that's how much he doubted it would happen. But then he said he would give half if we didn't....

Smitty is from Utah. He doesn't care about the ACC. Its a nice gesture. He's donating either way.

I heard what he said yesterday as well as what he has said in past visits to the show. He stated that our inconsistency gives him serious doubt that we will make it to Atlanta. Do you disagree? I suppose you think that the the Pack have been a model of condistency and living up to their potential thus far? He has given us compliments in the past and I've actually felt that he might be a bit if a Pack fan. If you think he was hard on us yesterday, you would really have had your feelings hurt if you were a UNC fan. It is funny how two people (or more) can hear a comment and interpret entirely different meanings. lol

It's always great to hear what an NFL player thinks about college BB - does he know any more about college BB than the average caller they have on that show?

He's actually pretty awesome on the show. No, he doesn't have all the stats and names of every player or team out there, but he's insightful and entertaining. He's on there for the same reason that most of the female news anchors on Fox News are there. Adds an extra reason to stay tuned in.

But I also heard him say the ACC teams can't deal with the super powers of college BB this season. Much of what we here & the real college BB people have said is that there are no super power teams this year - on any given night, the name college programs can & will go down.

The Final 4 will really be interesting this year, maybe only one 1 seed actually makes it - I expect more "upsets" seed wise this year than any we've seen.

not saying he's not but I like to hear his insights on the NFL - he can provide us an insiders view of the NFL few can provide. He can offer his opinion on college BB, like any fan but when he says there are super power college BB teams this season, it proves he doesn't follow college BB as much as he thinks he does. The late "Get some guy" could have said that too.

If we have learned anything about the NCAA tournament it is...Just as many inconsistent teams make deep runs, as consistent teams. Look at us and Duke from last season. Duke loses to Lehigh, we make the Sweet 16. It is all about how you are playing the second half of Feb and into March.

If we get on a role (I think this Weekends game will say a lot about our chances), then there is no doubt we have the fire power to make the NCAA tournament.

how true, Duke has the much better season as a whole but which fan base felt better after last season? I'll bet most Duke fans weren't consoling themselves reflecting on how good their regular season was after a 15 seed knocked them out.

7 Points separates us from Michigan. I also think we are capable of staying close or even beating any top 5 team.

I have been saying it all year. This team plays its best against better competition...good thing that the NCAA tournament is the big stage...and I expect us to look completely different in March than we have all year.

right, no doubt the close losses were tough to watch but the only game the Pack was blown out was OSU early this season.
