LOLOLOLOL at the 40 times of these RBs. That's why I openly LOL at posters when they post a high school kid's 40 as 4.3 or 4.4 and consider a player who runs a 4.6 as being too slow. Those 40 yard times are as truthful as a politician running for office.

I can only assume that most of the 40 times you see posted for high school guys come from someone asking the player himself what his 40 is and the kid says "4.4"

Re: "Official" NFL Combine thread
These combine numbers aren't accurate either, but remember the great philosopher, Andre Agassi, had it right so many years ago, "image is everything". Add 0.20 to 0.24 to all of these official times. So an Olympic level athlete, Goodwin, actually runs 4.47 to 4.51. But that doesn't excite the senses. Of course, it's all relative to their peers. This from a 2012 article leading up to the combine. www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/en...682485/34964121In a first, the Combine will use Fully Automated Timing, meaning electronic devices will be used for both the start and the finish of each 40-yard run. However, these FAT 40-yard times will not be revealed to players or NFL teams, The Sports Xchange has learned. Most player workouts will be between Saturday and Monday, with some special teams players only working out on Friday. NFL teams were briefed on the new timing method Wednesday. Because NFL teams keep 40 times to a hundredth of a second, there has long been a push to further legitimize those times by using the same methods as track and field and the Olympics. However, according to coaches and scouts who discussed this with The Sports Xchange, the FAT times are expected to be .20 to .24 seconds slower than the relative times recorded using methods the Combine has gone with since 1990, and before. "We were told it is just an experiment and we won't be told the results," said one team official. "People are worried about the reaction players may have if the 40 times change that much." Combine, team and league officials are concerned that an abrupt change to recognizing the more accurate FAT times would create a culture shock of sorts for players. These players have long been told that, for skilled positions such as wide receiver, cornerback and running back, a 4.30 clocking is elite, a 4.40 is extremely good, a 4.50 is good and 4.70 and above may be cause for concern at those positions for an NFL prospect.

I thought he looked a step slower in the 4th quarter during a couple of games. Maryland comes to mind. Played an outstanding first half and then seemed a step slower in the 2nd. Frustrating to look at the previous staff and see what they didn't get out of our best players. I understand that you shouldn't have to hold a college-aged kids hand to get him to workout but to many our guys weren't in top phyiscal form.

FWIW, Amerson said he was gunning for picks the whole season and also took responsibility for the last play against Miami.

Did the same thing to Stocker. I have a lot of beefs with TOB, but that is not one of them. Your back-up HAS to play some downs. He was one play away from having to be our starter. I guess you could argue that our walk-on could have been number 2, but that seems to be a silly argument.

How is Chris Johnson's time the record? Bo Jackson ran a 4.12 at the 1986 combine.

I guess you could argue that our walk-on could have been number 2, but that seems to be a silly argument. Why did we have to get Stocker snaps? Glennon had proven to be pretty reliable by playing every snap meaningul snap the previous year. Besides - if Glennon went down for an extended period of time, would three or four snaps really give Stocker an advantage?
And when we put Stocker in the game - most of the time it was to hand the ******* ball off. We didn't even let him air out.
I stuck around for all four quarters of the UVA debacle just to see a chance to see Stocker throw the ball. But TOB and Bible didn't even let him throw it.
Crisp redshirt was wasted so we could beat Western Carolina when Vermigilio was suspended.
And yes I'm bitter. TOB personally owes me 30 minutes of my life back after that UVA debacle.

The kind of plays Stocker got, and he got very few plays at all, would have been of little help if he had to play for real. --------------------------------------------- --- PackMentality87 wrote: LetsGoState wrote: --------------------------------------------- --- Prowler wrote:

Glennon with a 4.94 40 26.5" vert 102" broad, 6' 7 225. Handled himself well in the interview. For the workout apparently it was as expected, made some great throws and missed a few. General consensus seems to be that he neither helped or hurt his status.

Geno Smith ran a 4.59 40-yard dash. Who was it around here telling me he was just as slow as Glennon? Also, I've seen on the NLFN crawl that the only players listed for NCSU's pro day are Glennon, Wolff, and Allen. Amerson just doing the combine or are they just forgetting to add him to the crawl?

Amerson is there. Put up 15 reps in the bench. Glennon is basically the only guy that has gotten any coverage at all and it's been largely negative at this point. Allen has had no press and Amerson and Wolff haven't either. The DB's do 40's, vertical, broad jump and the drills tomorrow. Maybe one of our DB's can do something.
