Didn't know he was out of jail...

Not sure why the truth is cruel.....his son has serious issues and Sid thinks he can get by without paying freaking Taxes on Millions of $$$ of income.....good grief guys....

How are you stating the truth when you just admitted that you're so ignorant you don't even know the truth.
Sorry...his son has issues and "should" be in jail based on below...but hey normal people rob folks, sell drugs and avoid paying taxes daily....lets praise them all...

"Lowe II pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and the drug Ecstasy, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and six counts each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping. Nearly all of the charges stemmed from a home invasion on March 16, 2007"

Who the **** is praising either Sid or his son?
nobody is praising...I just got comments like I should Mindy McCreedy myself from Hunwolf after saying he can join his son in jail...sorry junior is out of jail doing great things I am sure....I wish I didn't have to pay freaking taxes as well but I do....

As I said before, I bet the NC DOR has information relating to a sale of an asset or multiple assets, or dividend income where Lowe earned capital gains that are taxable.

No one is assuming that - it's just that either your taxes are filed or they aren't.  They didn't charge him with tax evasion - only failure to file.  That's pretty black and white.
Failure to file - assuming it is legitimate - doesn't even mean he didn't pay his taxes. I'm sure NC State withheld his state taxes while he was working here. In fact by not filing it's likely he overpaid his taxes. He'll probably end up getting a refund!
That's not necessarily the case.  Yes, he would have had his state taxes come out of each paycheck, but as a poor government worker myself, I can tell you that the employer doesn't always take enough out.

My wife and I generally get a refund from one that takes care of about half of the other.  Certain municipalities/government entities generally get to hire the accountants that can't hack it on their own or people that aren't accountants to begin with.  That said, depending on what his salary was for those years, I agree with the poster who said it's probably a nominal amount (for him), probably less than $25K.

Agreed...sorry for my mistake.....his son is NOT currently in jail....hope he turns things around...we already have enough felons out there....

Sidney is and should be in jail/pay a fine/pay his taxes, etc....

3 YEARS of no taxes.....I can see an oversight on 1 year but 3...good god...

But damn don't hope I Mindy McCreedy myself....damn that is low....I don't have any felonies or misdemeanors to my name and I pay taxes!!! biggrin

Me too. Hopefully just some mistake, although admittedly it does not look good on the surface.

But if you're not getting enough money taken out (congratulations, you aren't giving the government an interest free loan) then change your W-4 form.

There has to more to this. State taxes are small compared to Fed especially for someone in his income bracket. Also, as a State employee it should have been deducted from his pay anyway. It is very odd that this wasn't worked out before getting arrested.

Yeah, it's just aggravating that we're just short of breaking even.  It's great in that we get our money throughout the year instead of one big lump sum after the government makes their interest off of it.  I'm doing the standard married-1 or married-0, same as my wife, but the school system she works for takes out too much, which compensates for my employer which doesn't.  Guess it's time to knock her up, then we'd be rolling in refunds and tax breaks.

SID's University pay was only a small portion of his overall compensation.

Why are they just going after him now? 2009? That was 3 years ago (April 2010, for those who think I can't subtract). Guess they didn't want to embarrass him. Hard to find sympathy for him. "I didn't know" and "I forgot" won't work here. I'm sorry to say this, but I think he should get some jail time. :(

my accountant blew my taxes using a software that misread in my scanned w-2.  I didn't get a letter from the IRS until 2 years later.  my accountant paid the penalty.

There was never any chance of being arrested...

The state tax auditors must either be very, very slow or they gave him some warnings...

No wonder our state budget is struggling, we can't even collect on our taxes from 2009.

Give the guy a break, Facebook made $1,000,000,000 and have no tax liability, not only do they not owe taxes, the IRS is going to give them $429,000,000. I'm sure Sid didn't make near that much, how could he possibly owe taxes?

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-02-15/f acebook-gets-a-multi-billion-dollar-tax-break

Seriously, with the money he makes, I'm sure he pays someone to do his taxes.

We need to dump income tax and move to a national sales tax, everyone has skin in the game (it gets all those here illegally paying into the system, heck might as well pay their fair share too).
