Hang in there man! Pack Nation loves you, who you are and what you bring. The tough times won't define you but how you respond will. Stay strong! You are a HUGE part of our present and future.

Is this just in response to his play recently, or did I miss hearing some bad news?

Between the return of Brown and the emergence of Lewis, Rodney's minutes have been cut substantially - they addressed it in the post game yesterday.  That being said, he'll get his minutes on down the line as he is an excellent part of this team.

Thanks. I got worried because this is usually one of those threads you see pop up when a player gets in trouble.

Just keep playing hard. Let the game come to you. Worst thing you can do is try and force things.

Even when things aren't going your way on the offensive end, play that much harder on the defensive end. Minutes can be had by being a defensive stopper.

Oh...and try squaring your lower body to the basket on your FT attempts. Might help.

I really hope this is the time our Seniors are having a big impact on Purvis. Most college freshman need that voice of reason that understands where they have been. I hope Howell, CJ and Scott let him know this will be over sooner than later and he will be a superstar. We need Purvis to keep his head up and learn from his experiences.

RE: Rodney Purvis

Hopefully the leadership (seniors and coaches) has been telling him that. He has to earn his minutes. That comes from good effort in practice, and showing you can perform when you do get on the court. Just don't try to force it when you do get the chance and let the game come to you.

Rodney's fine. You can tell by his twitter that all he cares about is winning. I think a big part of Rodney's struggles has been his inability to hit FTs. It's hard to be a slasher when you can't hit FTs. Also hitting a few fts helps your confidence as a scorer tremendously.

Yep. I love his desire too. He has all the tools to be great. Just needs to give up the rock more often on the break. I think he's putting too much pressure on himself to score, when he would look a whole lot better (and more NBA ready) making the unselfish play.

It is already clear that he is not going to the NBA next year, so he should stop pressing himself to make the superhuman play.

Sorry. Don't tweet and know for a fact that players do read these boards. So, yes, I do think it is important for them to hear fans are behind them.

My question for you is even if they don't does it really bother you to read positive support for our players? If it does, then don't click on the links and pick another team. Carry on.

I am curious, do you people think RP (or any other player) would come to PP, read this thread and say to himself "You know - that anonymous message board poster is right. I am now encouraged."??

You should tweet him if you want to send him a message.

I agree it is creepy. But if his intent is to have RP read his words of encouragement, I don't think posting a thread on PP is going to get the job done.

And how do you know the OP is an adult?

State is a top 10 team when clicking on all cylinders, Purvis is one of those cylinders.

Transition game has been lacking, and Purvis is a big boost there with his explosiveness . . . when he can get into some contact AND score the bucket on the break, watch out.

If he didn't take another 3 all year I wouldn't be upset. Slash slash slash, play defense and get out on the break.

Next time you are on a fast break.....please pass the ball if your teammate has a better path to the hoop.

Don't think you've given the ball up all year on a break.

LOL. Give up. You're embarrassing yourself. Is 52 adult enough for you? Again, why do you insist on being so negative against positive support for an NC State player?

Give the kid a break. He is only a freshman. that Green dude who is leading the nation in scoring only averaged 3 points a game as a freshman.

I wouldn't say he's the glue guy on the team but I agree his intensity is infectious.  That's why it's so important from a mental standpoint for Coach Gott to get him back on track.

Rodney needs to know you can't be a leader only when things are going well for you.  Otherwise, you'll appear to be a phony and no one respects a phony.  Also, when faced with an obstacle or challenge, you can't go in the dumps and throw yourself a pity party.

Again I ask, why does it bother you that an NC State fan/grad (and more in this case) would post something positive about/to a player coach, fan or the school? Are you really that thick??

I'll give you you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe you're not an NC State fan or grad, maybe you're new to the Internet.

Maybe Gott should hire you to give motivational speeches to the team before games.

And yes, that is old enough for me. In fact, it's pretty old.

Not trying to be negative just honestly curious why people (you are not the only one) post messages directly to players on this board.

How is voicing your support over Twitter creepy, I'm so sick of this insinuation....I'm not a rocket scientist but I'm sure the players love to hear the fans support them....one could argue that going to a caravan/meet and greet and fawning over a player/coach is creepier

I tweeted to Rodney today in reply to one of his tweets.  Pretty much just said keep working hard, packnation is behind you.

As negative as twitter generally is, I'm sure it helps him to hear the support of the fans.  Kids these days are very into twitter and check constantly about what others are saying about them.  I'll gladly take a second of my day to give him some encouragement.  Nothing really creepy about it.  I'm only 28 though, so maybe my perspective on twitter is a bit different than some of you.

Try getting up on your tip toes on the free throws...try to get the ball as close to the front rim as possible...if you catch a little of the front rim on the shot...likely the ball still bounces in. Better chances of bouncing in after hitting the top of the front rim than hitting the back rim.

And they do read their messages, I'm sure the players have to hear all kinds BS from opposing fan bases...you're right though, it takes me maybe a min to send a positive message to a player...most that hate on such things are Twitter illiterate or just don't get it
