Two totally different QB's. Going to be interesting to see which way Doeren goes. I anticipate a boatload of threads about this.

I think Thomas wins the spot, but should be interesting.

Stocker looked good the zero times he threw the ball leas season.

Whatever the decision made, it will become the wrong decision as soon as we lose our first game...provided of course we don't lose a game until 2014...in which case it was clearly the right decision.

I hope Manny Stocker loses the necessary pounds and wins the starting position and in the process becomes a three-year starter.

Doeren is long connected to the guy having said "I’ve known him since he was a freshman in high school when I recruited him for Wisconsin." I wouldn't be surprised if Brissett is #1 QB next year.

He has to sit next season. I'm talking about next year 2014 and not this upcoming season. Maybe the staff will run the wildcat with both Thomas and Stocker. That could be interesting.

I hope Manny Stocker is successful and he does to Brissett what Russell Wilson did to Mike Glennon. Unlike many, I'm just not as high on Brissett but very high on Stocker.

Given that Brissett will likely be the starter in 2014 I think we go with Stocker and keep the offense style consistent. Unless Thomas is that much better than Stocker.

Re: OGH's BFF Andrea:Thomas set to compete for NCSU QB job
Thomas was a kid the old staff recruited back in 2008/09 coming out of high school. He put up some pretty impressive numbers coming out of hs ball in Cali. While he struggled as a true freshman at CS to some extent, the year off may have done him some good. We will see

Yeah, why is that exactly? In case anyone hasn't tried it already, don't waste your time with the fake Microsoft Bing search field at the top of the page. Apparently there's no index of this forum. It can't find anything (e.g. "Stocker" had no search results). Marvelous.

This. I got a buddy that sits next to him in class, (srs) Jacoby wants that starting pos bad. I think he'll get it

My only thoughts are, how can anyone make this type of assertion when we have absolutely NO IDEA what to expect? New coaches and new system, new QB (and we don't even know which one it will be)... granted there are a lot of unknowns.

Unlike many, I'm just not as high on Brissett but very high on Stocker. Sigh. Bryanth, that statement is EXACTLY why you take so much abuse on this board. How can anyone in their right mind prefer one over the other at this point? All you've seen of Stocker, outside of handing the ball off a few times at the end of a couple of games this year, is his high school video.................. Oh. Right. Carry on.

Hey, I'm just excited that there is a good old QB competition. Have not had one in a while. It is wide open, enjoy the ride. It will make the preseason that much more fun.

Re: OGH's BFF Andrea:Thomas set to compete for NCSU QB job
On the QB selection, this is something the coaches are going to have to sort out. Thomas is an unknown to us. His previous experience was not all star caliber. I have seen nothing yet from Stocker that looks like an immediate answer. His 0-2 passing and 2.6 rushing yd. average on a handful of attempts are not that impressive. But we have a new staff and a whole new set of unknowns. So this coming season will be a mystery on offense for a while.

Re: OGH's BFF Andrea:Thomas set to compete for NCSU QB job
I think Stocker will be the starter next year (just a hunch). I think I have more faith in the one that originally got away from CDD (Brissett) than the one that originally got away from TOB (Thomas). Stocker and Brissett will have more similar styles. Thomas will be valuable in practice though for the defense to practice against the drop-back style QB.

Re: OGH's BFF Andrea:Thomas set to compete for NCSU QB job
Stocker may be the type of QB Doeren wants, but I'm predicting Thomas is going to beat him out by a long shot. Division I experience. I'll go so far to say that the real controversy will be the next year when Thomas is a Sr. and Brissett comes off his transfer year.

You guys obviously didn't go to the 2012 spring game. I don't need somebody to tell me why he didn't look very good. I'm just telling you guys there's no reason to be excited about Stocker yet. --------------------------------------------- --- PotHole wrote: CalStabbinsGhost wrote:
