For the word to be that no one associated with UNC* would be nominated, that looks like a ridiculous amount of UNC* ties nominated.

There's no way in hell that the BOG will not be dominated by UNC homers, at least not in the next 20 years or so. Since we know from observation and experience that only about .02% of those with strong UNC connections have enough integrity to denounce the corruption, expect more of the same.

Re: Here are sixteen nominees for BOG
let this be a wake up call to anybody that thought U*NC would willingly punish itself or give up one ounce of it's power. Which should tell you that they feel the need to keep the current structure in place, which in turn should tell you that it's business as usual over there.

Re: Here are sixteen nominees for BOG
I was good friends with one of Mr Deal's kids about a decade ago. Good people overall, but he is beyond a shadow of a doubt a huge Heel homer. He got his undergrad at App State, but you'd honestly never know he even attended. Although I suppose his Mountaineers stickers may simply be hidden under the UNC ones plastered all over his cars. I've been in their home as well and, unless something drastic changed in the last 10 years, there's Tar Heel paraphernalia all over that joint. Score one for the Holes if he's on the BOG.

My girlfriends dad was on this board for like 10 years and it doesn't mean jack with athletics like you guys claim it does --------------------------------------------- --- biggoodwolf wrote: Update February 26: Here are 16 names being sent to the NC House as potential nominees for the UNC BOG. Eight of these will be nominated and voted on by the full House, probably within a week or two. I don't yet have any specific info on these, but I'm working on it. If you know about any of these, especially where they got their degrees, feel free to post it... just be accurate, please. Fred Mills, Sr. James Edward (Jim) Nance George A. Sywassink, Jr. Roger Aiken Rodney Hood R. Doyle Parrish James Marvin Barnes (Jimmy) James M. Deal, Jr. Walter C. Davenport Yvonne Thomas Knott, III Henry Williams Hinton William Graham Champion Mitchell Irvin Roseman Dr. Joan Perry Muriel W. Sheubrooks Laura Wiley ****************** Most of us have been upset and complaining for years about so many members of the UNC BOG being graduates of or in some way affiliated with UNC at Chapel Hill. At present, I believe it's 23 vs only 5 affiliated with NC State. Well now is the time to try to do something about it. Two committees have been established in the NC legislature, one in the House and one in the Senate, to make nominations for new members to be appointed this year. I'm not sure how many there are, but it will be several. These committees, or at lease the Senate committee, will be meeting this week to adopt a resolution setting forth the process and timeline for nominations and elections. The links below will take you to the respective committee pages where members names are listed. The chairman of the Senate committee is Senator Tom Apodaca from Hendersonville. Chairman of the House committee is Tim Moore of Kings Mountain. Please contact as many of these members as you can to express your concern with the gross imbalance in membership on the BOG and your desire for them to begin immediately correcting this long-standing problem. Even if every member appointed this year were a graduate of NC State, it would not come close to erasing the imbalance, but it would be a good start. The important thing is to let them know that a lot of voters care about this situation and expect them to correct it. Phone calls work best, but use emails if you don't have time to call. Just as an FYI, Rep. Tim Moore is a UNC grad. We just can't escape them.

RE: Here are sixteen nominees for BOG
Each University should be represented with one BOG member to be selected by the BOT of each individual school. The rest of the BOG should have both members with ties to any UNC System school and also several with no ties to ANY of these state universities. These members are to be selected by the legislature. This will assure that each school is represented. With having some members with zero ties to any school then new ideas will have a better chance of being heard and presented to the board.
