We have almost a week to get ready for this one - and Brown back - we need to be up by double digits at the half and keep it that way the whole 2nd half.

Win big - play everyone and have fun - then do the same thing when FSU comes to town a few days later.

Let's tune up with 2 fun home wins (and not nailbiters this time) on our way to CHeater Hill!

it seems that we have at least one (usually unexpected) player have a career game agaisnt us. Green will get his points - which other hokie will have his career day? I am guessing Raines (7.1 ppg)or Barksdale (4.8 ppg).

right, we don't need a make or break play to win/lose it in a game vs. VT. The Pack needs to start playing up to their potential on Sat.

Not that I wouldn't enjoy a double-digit win on Saturday, but my expectations for how we "should" play have been replaced by an overriding desire to win the damn game. I'm finally becoming comfortable with the fact that we are not a dominant team. Whether it's our mentality or whether we just don't have the horsepower to play full-throttle for 40 minutes away from a lively home crowd, or both, I don't know. But at this point, my definition of "potential" is a W!

that's true but a 10 point win shouldn't be too much to ask against a team like VT @ home. If they struggle Sat, those who predict a quick NCAA tourney exit will probably be correct when they play better teams than VT on a neutral court.

Same here. I really wish that we had one more post player who could contribute reasonable minutes. It would make all the difference in the world for this team.

If we get a 10 point 1st half lead I would bet Vandy gets to see a few minutes - and against teams like Vatech he might look ok.

There will be a game some time this year (ACCT or NCAA T ) when Vandy comes in and actually gets a couple of put back dunks or clean blocks (clean blocks that are not called as fouls I mean - he already has some nice blocks that the refs saw contact that was not there). You cannot coach 7 feet. Sometimes just being there that big makes a difference.

It's at home so I expect a solid win. If it were on the road I'd expect the same old BS with the game coming down to the last possesion.

This is what is so good about our remaining schedule - the next two are at home - then we play AT the CHeats so that will not be a problem for us getting up on the road. That will be the game where we can really shake the road "Blues" once and for all this season.

Then the games are split - home again - road again - home again - road again and the two remaining road games are at Gtech (can be a problem but I like our matchups with them - especially with Tyler now part of the rotation) and at FSU (where I predict as his last ACC road game Scott Wood the senior channels his inner freshman for a record 7 3's made - probably all in the 1st half).

I don't care how we win, I just want to win.

That being said, this is a team in which we shouldn't be sweating out the final minute or so...

Folks, we need to just win games period. The amount of points does not matter. I think we should stomp them pretty good but it may not happen. Win and keep getting better.

I hope some of these final road games those teams have finally given up on their seasons. Yeah they will still try to win but playing a spoiler of sorts is different from a team that still has an NCAA shot. I doubt we'll see the best shot of a team that wants to play spoiler. FSU fans will probably be on to baseball & looking forward to FB season by then too.

I was thinking the same thing.  Our remaining home games are MUST wins.  That being said, people better not sleep on the hokies.  Aside from the aforementioned coming out party of said hokie, these guys took UNC to overtime in chapel hill.  Just sayin....

He can have all the points he wants as long as we win the game!

I think we put together a full game - at home - with the rested and healthy squad - Vatech is down double digits after the 1st 10 minutes and never gets close.

I agree 100%.  I think the team needed the Clemson win on the road to get their head on straight to help prove to themselves they are not snakebit.  I hope that Calvin also stops pressing so much.  The team is better as a whole when he is getting assists to go with this points/rebounds.

Apparently so does ESPN.

This game should not even been close.  VT is a bad basketball team, they have one player in Green and that is it.

Yup, unfortunately I think this one will be much closer than most people think. I don't know anyone on VT's team except for Green so I'll just say some average freshmen will go off for 20 / 10 and keep them in the game.

State still wins though

Since the Michigan game, I don't recall a shooting guard lighting us up.  Rodney has done a very good job defending SGs.  It's been the post and wing players that have hurt us.
