Consecutive years @ the garden? Meh. Not sure if that's a good idea. It'd be a big event, but it'll run out of steam quickly. I live in Jersey. The city is great, but after a while its the same old ****. Its like ******* a supermodel. After a couple years of people drooling over NYC, because its NYC, it'll come back to the fact that's its a bball tournament. It can be played almost anywhere. I'm for rotating. New and shiny isn't always best

New and shiny isn't always best I think 5 years is too long too, for the same reason you mention - fatigue. However, as wrc says, if the ACCT wants to get into MSG, then MSG holds all the leverage to dictate the terms. ACC already tried a 1 year deal, and MSG said "no dice." MSG has a long-term commitment with the Big East (although once the Catholic 7 depart to form the Big Priest, that will likely be severed). If they dump the Big East, then the could choose to partner with the Big Priest on a permanent basis. If that happens, tough to see the ACCT ever being in MSG. My guess is that the Big Priest will want a permanent home, just like the Big East had. I thought that Barclays would offer more flexibility for the ACCT, since they would be looking to fill dates in competition with MSG. But then the Islanders decided to move there, giving Barclays 2 pro teams, and then Barclays signed up the A10 Tournament. They don't need the ACC either, and thus they have the better leverage in discussions. Will be interesting to see what happens if some of the better A10 teams split from that league and join the Big Priest - will Barclays look to get out of the A10 deal? I think the ACCT in NYC is going to happen - I just hope that to do it, the ACC doesn't have to go overboard. A 5 year commitment to me is overboard. Last time the ACC held the Tournament at the same site for 5 straight years was 89-94 at the then brand new Charlotte Coliseum. It's moved around pretty regularly since then. A 3 year run at MSG to introduce the Northeast to the ACCT would be good, and then get it onto a set rotation among regions, so that every 3 years it's being held in one of the 3 geographic areas of the ACC: NE, Mid-atlantic, South. That's the fairest arrangement I can think of.

The ACC is "thoroughly investigating" playing its men's basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden, sources told ESPN on Wednesday. Besides Madison Square Garden, the ACC also has had discussions with the Barclays Center about holding its tournament in Brooklyn, a source said. espn.go.com/new-york/mens-coll...den-sources-say

My feeling was they had someone in the ACC meeting room this week with the information they provided.

Re: ACC to consider NY for MBB ACCT 5/15 more MSG/Barclays
Madison Square Garden is the best basketball arena I've been to. It just has a feel to it that places like PNC lack somehow. I still think GBoro should be rotated in. It's not the greatest town or the greatest arena, but it's a good, affordable geographical midway point.

Maybe NYC for an occasional visit, but it should not be there every year. Rotate it like they have been.

From Jeff Fischel of the ACC Digital Network:
@JeffFischel: Mark Gottfried: "Greensboro phenomenal. But ... consensus among coaches is ... NYC can elevate #ACC 2 another level."
