There are some folks on here that need to be banned permanently. With a healthy ZO we win this game in a blow out.

Re: State/UVA postgame
Gott has to start coaching better.
Howell and Leslie have to get the ball on the block every time down court. We know they were going to double. The guys have to space and be ready to shoot or cut to the basket. Lousy defense in the post again. They caught it way to deep way too many times. Should have let Lewis run the point at the end. UVA kept running the same screen play over and over.
Another loss that should have been a W.

Re: State/UVA postgame
Last shot didn't hit a friggin' thing. Same stuff, different day. Disappointed in the result and Gottfried's use of the bench/rotation. Happy for the effort they put forth.
I'll be interested to find out WTH the Howell/Warren stuff was about.
Sidebar: watching ESPN, I may be in the minority, but I like Bilas and Jay Williams. They seem to be straight shooters and Bilas will even call out Duke over something if he needs to. I've never heard Williams do it, but I don't think he gets the high profile gigs so he may not have the chance.

Re: State/UVA postgame
The next time TJ Warren back talks Howell, he should just flat out deck him. There's no excuse for a crappy freshman to diss him that way. He flat out sucked tonight, and couldn't stop a one-dimensional white guy.
Freshmen killed us in the last 2 minutes. Horrible shots and horrible passes by both.
Coach has to learn how to coach and run a freaking play. He flat out wastes his timeouts and comes up with absolutely nothing.
Bigs did a wonderful job tonight, considering the guards and wings gave them no help whatsoever.
Have to hope Brown can play against Miami, otherwise I'm scared to watch the domination they'll put on us.
Best doll sidekick ever!!!

IF the game is officiated properly we win. IF Brown doesn't go down we win.
But we lost.
At some point we just have to realize this team will never be better than above average until they can beat mediocre teams on the road. I'm not sure what game you were seeing. I did not see us play a good, smart game. We should have easily beat UVA without Lo.

RE: State/UVA postgame
Thoughts on the Pack play (besides getting ****** by the refs)
- Wood doesn't seem to shoot as well on the road. It'd be nice to break this streak. - Purvis did well running the point but I think it took him out of his offensive game. TJ Warren struggled in the half court game. 9 points between both isn't enough with Brown out. - Howell played great. - Leslie hit the boards hard. One of his better games. Still has to focus on eliminating TOs. - Lewis gave us some good minutes. - We need a shut down wing defender. We miss CJ Williams. I'd have traded a great scoring wing for CJ Williams tonight.

Re: State/UVA postgame
LO Brown would not allow us to lose. This is not like Duke losing Kelly. Brown creates and mixes things up. He talks to the players, dishes the ball and is our creator. Rough if he is gone for more than a game.

RE: State/UVA postgame
We lost Brown but we still should have won this game. For every good play Calvin had he complimented it with a turnover or undisciplined play. Yes, it wasn't a very good officiated game but we compounded it with ill-timed mistakes.
My two complaints:
1. I thought Tyler should have ran PG; I don't trust Rodney as the primary decision-maker. 2. I thought Gott should have called a timeout on the next to last out of bounds possession.

Does anyone really think we lose with him on the court ? How does what you said diminish the following facts stated in my original post: 1. We lost on the road 2. We made too many stupid mistakes --------------------------------------------- The stupid mistakes and loss were pretty directly attributable to Zo being hurt and as Jay Williams noted, UVa being allowed to push CJ out of bounds

Missed too many bunnies. Contested, yes . . . but surely makeable shots.
Scotty . . . buddy we needed more from you tonight.
Props to Purvis and Lewis for handling the point. They weren't the reason we lost.

Pray Zo is okay and back Saturday.
Damn, could Bruce Pearl pull any harder for Virginia then he did? Who from State pissed in his Cheerios? Making all kinds of asinine remarks in the 2nd half. All the while failing to mention we're playing without Zo.
Virginia better pray they don't see us in the ACCT 100% healthy.

RE: State/UVA postgame
At some point I wish we made adjustments. Gott let warren stay on his man too long and he kept getting burned. We never adjust to the way the refs are calling it either. Overall the coaching and players are inconsistent and above average at best if we average out play over the season.

We looked out of our element in the half court. I hope Lo will be ready for Saturday.

RE: State/UVA postgame
Losing the best player in the ACC and then having to fight the thugs and the poor refs, great effort by the Pack.
Two huge missed calls the last 2 weeks cost the Pack. The flagrant foul and then allowing the basket against Weak and then tonight the easy missed call on Warren's "travelling". Doesn't take too much to lose a game by the refs..

Re: State/UVA postgame
Honestly, I really hate blaming the referees but this was a freakin joke of job by those idiots. Jay Williams said it exactly like it is.... pure horrendous and yes, on both sides of the ball. I'm at a loss at how our inside guys can just constantly get mauled over and over and over and not get a foul called. I really with Gottfried would just blow a gasket one time and call them out for the absolute joke they are.
Considering, we lost Lo and the WWF refs, I can't be that upset with the loss.

Play your point guard Lewis. Why Purvis at the point the few possessions. We couldn't score to begin or end the 2nd half while Purvis played out of position at PG. Cmon Gott!

I think Purvis actually plays a better point then Tyler. Tyler looks nervous and if pressured he just throws up a shot. Purvis is quick enough to get by his man, Tyler is not.

Re: State/UVA postgame
For all you basketball ******* lets put this in simple terms. Losing a PG in basketball is similar to losing a QB in football.
It sucks to lose another close one again but without our "QB", a sick CJ, and very little depth I am proud of the way the guys played. To compare this to UMD or WFU is simply stupid. On to Miami.

TJ Warren needs to learn there's more to basketball than shooting. Failed to play defense, failed to block out. My tweet to him: Great offense No defense Your better listen to Richard Howell next time when he tries to help you with how to defend a screen. You want to cop an attitude, and get abused on defense.

Re: State/UVA postgame
Bottom line - UVa earned this win. 33% ft shooter hits two with 23 sec's left? Akil Mitchell buried 15 footer in closing minutes. They played like champs. It was a freaking accomplishment for us to complete a pass from one player to another... their defense was that good. We just couldn't quite get over the hump.
Missing Brown, but we still almost won. CJ playing sick. We absorbed their best shot and nearly pulled it out on the road. Sucks to lose, but we definitely gave it our all. I'm proud of our guys. With Brown we beat these guys 9 times out of 10.
