I can't help JR haters but those who have followed him closely can see the difference easily. Kinda like night and day. Ok. Can you give examples instead of just a general statement?
Seriously, I have an open mind... I have no specific quotes to tell you. Attitude is what is different. He does not blame others. He has grown up. He has one girlfriend. He does not party at all like he did. He is probably more mature than I am. An insider has told me he is different now and it shows in the interviews. When I was a SR fan they hated him too. I got into a lot of talks with other fans at tracks. I am used to the hate but it is kinda old and boring to me at this point. Now is JR ever going to be anything like SR as a driver? Probably not but I will always pull for any Earnhardt.

I never hated Dale, Sr. I respected him because he was a champion and won races his way. His way was doing whatever it took, a pass in the grass, cleaning his own windshield during a caution while sitting on the side of his moving car, etc. He found ways to win...he produced results, Dale Jr produces excuses. I'm glad his interviews show maturity...show me race wins, show me a Sprint Cup Championship, show me that he's not the most over-rated, over-hyped driver this side of Danica Patrick. If you always want to root for an Earnhardt, cool, my advice to you is to start following Jeffrey Earnhardt. I've had the pleasure of talking to him multiple times and he is far more humble, respectful and passionate about racing than #88. (And yes I've talked to Jr as well, with an open-mind)

Jr's appeal is his personality. It resonates with more fans than any other driver. If jr has a gift, that's it. His folksy demeanor comes across as being a guy you'd like to have at your next party.
He's not a "pretty boy" and has not even a smidgen of arrogance, at least on camera. For a long time, he lived in a modular home, although he could afford better.

Ok back on topic, after looking at the schedule at the beginning of the season, they go to Phoenix, Las Vegas, Bristol, Fontana, Martinsville.... Does anyone know why they just don't stay out on the west coast for Fontana and then come back for Bristol and Martinsville?

They probably use different cars for the tracks in question and therefore multiple haulers would be needed. Also, they have day to day operations back home and are building/modifying cars. Hotels/meals would get very expensive if they stayed out there for weeks.

You seem as if you have your mind made up, and are not willing to change it, so it would be a waste of time to try to convince you of anything. Dale Jr's record speaks for itself, at least to those who are willing to listen.

Dale has won enough races, been in enough chases and has enough top 5/10 finishes to deserve a cup ride. He is not an elite driver but few are. He is personable on camera and that is a plus for a NASCAR driver. Unlike many other sports where only talent and ability matter, NASCAR drivers have to have both plus appeal to sponsors. It is the only way to pay the bills. If you don't like that last fact then follow a new sport because the NASCAR model is not going to change anytime soon.

One other point: He's still the biggest draw in the sport, and the sport needs him. If you were a TV exec or track owner, would you want him involved or not? I like the guy, would love to see him win more, though, like apparently many others, my interest in sitting thru a race, save for Daytona, Talledaga, and perhaps a few of the short tracks, has waned significantly. The comparison to Danica is not even remotely similar.

^^Didn't say the facts wrong, just that you seem overly bothered by them.
Sure, he's hyped. They've tried hyping Gordon and Johnson and _________, but the effect is not the same. The fans want Junior. You don't have to like it.
In fairness, last season, he hung around the top 3 all season until the chase started and he had those wrecks and concussion. Not a championship, sure, but a successful season otherwise by most measurements. Hoping he builds upon that this year.

Versus a guy who won the Nationwide title and has won 17 races. Its not a comparison.

FACT: He has been driving for Hendrick Motorsports for 5 years, the same team as 5-Time Champ Jimmie Johnson and 4-Time Champ Jeff Gordon, AND HE HAS 2 WINS IN 5 YEARS.
FACT: In over a decade in the Cup Series, HAS ZERO CUP CHAMPIONSHIPS and HASN'T EVEN COME IN 2ND IN FINAL STANDINGS IN ANY YEAR.
You're right, that record absolutely speaks for itself...enjoy another season of disappointment rooting for "Juuuunneee-yerrrrrr" Someone's seems angry.
Show me one fact I mentioned that is incorrect.
Like I said earlier, Dale Jr=UNC-Chapel Hill Football, TV execs can root for both, but neither ever win nearly what they are annually hyped to...and yet the annual hype for both is never ending... OK chapel hill we get it, you love to hate on JR over and over. Who is your driver? Hate away bro...haha

Tip of the hat to Rick Hendrick.
When told that Danica was fastest in practice, his response: "I'd love to see her on the pole. She's magical."

There are a ton of empty seats tonight. Not a good look for NASCAR.
