RE: Basketball Recruiting Thread 9.0
Gary Clark- IMHO would be a great get if he keeps progressing... Dropped 42 points and had 20 rebounds in a 5 point loss to Garner High School on Wednesday... (20-23 from FT line) So it isn't like he was putting up monster numbers on weak competition. Here is high school OT's commentary http://www.highschoolot.com/me...2/#/vid12022172

RE: Basketball Recruiting Thread 9.0
Can someone explain to me why the staff doesn't seem to be going hard after Gary Clark? The only news I've heard about Gary Clark was information from posters on here about his performances, but nothing about any coaches going to watch him play or does the kid even have an offer?
If not... why? I know we have Cody and Caleb but there's got to be room for a kid like Clark on the team.

Re: Basketball Recruiting Thread 9.0
Thats why I just posted the Stanley Johnson info. He has an NCSU offer and basically plays a lot like Clark but is a five star prospect. Isaac Copeland has an offer as well and plays the same position.
Now I, personally am all for giving Clark a NCSU jersey and letting him go at it, but I guess the staff is not quite sold on him yet. I think he is about to soar up the charts as far as rankings go and is still a junior, so we shall see. I know Wake and Miami are interested in him as far as ACC schools go and VCU is on him from the A10, Cincinnati is in contact with Clark also. Several recruiting sites seem to think he may be the most under ranked player in the state at this point.

Re: Basketball Recruiting Thread 9.0
What are the negatives in his game as far as the coaching staff is concerned? He seems to pretty much be an all-around solid player. He has natural scoring ability, clearly a prolific rebounder and can be an intimidator on the defensive end with his shot blocking.
The only thing I can see from him that isn't up to par is his size (he needs to put on some muscle so he can't get pushed around) and his offensive game needs some polishing. He clearly has the natural ability to score but his offensive game is not exactly what you'd call smooth, he doesn't have a ton of moves in the paint and he doesn't play with his back to the basket all that well.
I live in Clayton so I've seen him play a few times. That kids going to be good after a couple years of collegiate coaching.

I saw that too. I really doubt it though. Who would travel halfway across the country only to turn right back because he wasn't feeling well? Would make more sense to stay in Raleigh, especially with the weather. Probably just a troll.

After being at that game and watching how well we run and score he will join the Pack. especially when he sees how poor coaching can ruin a player, see little McAdoo.

Looking at what is likely to be left next season, not only do we need Randle to sign, we need a couple of more - even if they aren't 5* burger boys. Even with a stellar class, we are probably going to still be young and short benched.

Randle is a huge priority but so is front court depth. Sidy or Tyrek would add that depth but man are we gonna be young next year if Zo and CJ turn Pro.

We'll be young regardless, but if we get Randle we'll be able to go nine deep which isn't to bad considering everyone we'll be losing. Having no one from the 2011 class is a big contributor to the youth condition. This is the effect of having to make a coaching change. Add to that, what's left of the 2010 class appears to be going pro. We still have some catching up to do and that might take another year or two.

Yeah even if we miss on Randle I'm still impressed with the way the coaches are recruiting. We stayed in the hunt longer than Duke and UNC and managed to get a top 5 player to visit us and enjoy his visit. Hopefully more top 5 players will be visiting in the new few years. :)

With some development, he could be one of the better PGs in the ACC by the time he is a senior. We need stacked classes. We also need some consistency year over year.
