Goodness gracious, just saw Aaron Gordon highlights...I wish we had a chance with him.
Blake Griffin Jr and it appears he has a jumper.
We can even curse other teams from afar. - rswilli2

Any kind of planned pep rally or whatnot? Also, Has anyone got the ball rolling on the giant Julius Randle heads for the student section?

Hoping with Texas pulling a major suck this year, it helps out with Randle. They are 0-5 in conference play. Glad we did not go after Barnes.

Re: Basketball Recruiting Thread 9.0
Concerning Anya, I don't think Anya was recruited for his offense( i'm reaching here), as we are going to have some more firepower next season as well. I see Anya( and JV) as the enforcer in the lane that forces bad shots or rejects them. He will/can be the catalyst that starts the break and gets us running. It will take some time to gel, but with Anya in the paint, the scoring of TJ,Wash and Turner, then add the speed of Cat and Purvis.....on paper and in my minds eye it's a beauty to behold. It will be crucial for Tyler to get stronger as well, but his court vision is still pretty good.

We need a nasty forward who is a rebounding machine for a year or so...not like the coaches don't know this but wonder if the Juco wire is heating up on someone? We looked at a kid from Cali last year and he was all the rage around here for a few months. hmmm?

Article on Sidy Djitte in the Fayetteville Observer. Article discusses his move from Senegal to eventually wind up at Northwood Temple in Fayetteville. Comments from coach: "You could tell he had all the physical attributes of a very good player,'' he said. "Size, speed, strength. He needed to learn some of the skill sets. Footwork. Post moves. Understanding the game a bit more.''He's averaging 17 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks per game and was just nominated for the McDonald's All-American game. Djitte already has gotten offers from N.C. State, Connecticut, Clemson, Cincinnati, Old Dominion and Coastal Carolina.
He is in no rush to make a decision for college. While he feels rebounding and defense are the strengths of his game at the moment, he doesn't think that's enough to win him a scholarship. "I need to work on everything,'' he said. "I've had good people around me, and they've helped me.''

However, in his defense, he came from the JUCO ranks and scrimmaged against two ACC starters still in Sweet 16 form and got pasted.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if he gets any minutes. In the past few years, I can only think of Luke Buffum and Will Roach as walk-ons who saw any real "significant" minutes throughout a season. And of course, some of our scholarship players failed to crack the rotation last season.

Re: Basketball Recruiting Thread 9.0
Some on this thread are interested in Gary Clark(2014). He is a 6'7 forward from Clayton who has put up some great stat lines this season. Last night Clark may have had one of the best games of the season in a loss to a very good Garner team. Clark finished with 42 points, 24 rebounds and 10 blocks. I think Wake Forest is watching him very closely and I hope our staff is taking notice. We could really use a kid like this, He also went 20-23 from the free throw line, one of our current weaknesses.

RE: Basketball Recruiting Thread 9.0
I'ne known the Martin twins and watched them play since the 8th grade. They are kids with character and kids you would want on your team. I always thought they had great skill but never thought they had ACC skills. No real comparison but CJ Williams’s skill set. I think it will take a few years. They both were excellent football and baseball players before they fully focused on basketball. Team started strong but has lost two in a row. They’ll be good players for us but not light it on fire the first year. Bryanth1a wrote: ^ This Clark kid sounds like the real deal. Is there any word on how the Martin twins are progressing?

If we're being honest what's the true % we have a shot at Randle? I haven't been keeping up with it so I have no clue.

If in fact he is down to 4 schools from what most are saying then 25%. Seems to be NC State, Kentucky, Texas, and Florida. SidsSouljahBoy wrote: If we're being honest what's the true % we have a shot at Randle? I haven't been keeping up with it so I have no clue.

I was hoping we could have beat Tabor and Reagan. Tabor was undefeated at the time and it would have been nice to beat them. No bad loses but being a DC guy I was crossing my finger this would be the year with the Hatfields and Martins!!! I hate losing to Tabor and Reagan. dunlow66 wrote:

Saturday is a HUGE day for visits. We all know Julius Randle will be in the house. He'll be joined by: Cat Barber, Cody and Caleb Martin, '15 PG P.J. Dozier, '15 SF Brandon Ingram, '16 PF Harry Giles (arguably top guy in his class). Possibly attending are '13 C Sidy Djitte, '14 SG/SF Theo Pinson, '14 SG Grayson Allen, and '14 PF Isaac Copeland. We need two or three guys who will do the following: rebound like a starving man! play defense like their very life depended on it, think team first all the time, come off the bench and give 5- 8 minutes all out not "cool out" "all out" husslin' all the time and jumping on the ball with vicious abandon, hit free throws, and be all red all the time.
Too demanding and thirty years late....I know. but I have a dream like V!

Not exactly losing a lot of games to teams that they should beat the Winston-Salem area is loaded with good teams this year. it's always a strong area for basketball, but this year in particular features a bunch of really good teams.
