When he ended those slumps he won 4 in 2 years both times, and 5 in 3 years both times. When the wall falls, and it will that's where he'll start adding to the total again.
Is that debate enough for you? I am a Tiger fan....but it has been nearly 5 years since he won a major. There is nothing ridiculous about that argument.

That's my point though it's not an argument it's a statement and people keep acting like it's a ridiculously bad thing that's never happened. Like I already said two different streaks of 10 majors between wins. 14 isn't 10, but the "slump" isn't as ridiculous as OMG he's never going to win one again as so many people make it out to be. The more respectable argument is Tiger won't win one anytime soon because the fields are so deep. That's the only thing I see potentially stopping him, not his mind or some silly drought notion.

RE: 2013 PGA Tour (San Diego)
He hasn't won a major in 5 years, that is a fact. His peers no longer are scared of him that is a fact. He is a basket case in the majors anymore, that is a fact. He now chokes leads in majors where he never did before 2008, that is a fact. Anything else you try and state as a prelude to his winning more majors is all speculation. He hasn't won a major in 5 years, so to try and say winning a meaningless Farmers Insurance Open is a precursor to winning a major this year is pure pseudo science. Until he shows he can win a major again the "slump" is FIVE years and counting. He is NOT the greatest golfer of all time as 18>14 especially how Nicklaus won his against all time great golfers not the chokers Tiger beat in his run. Now that a true champ has come on the scene, McIlroy, Tiger has done nothing in the majors.

Re: 2013 PGA Tour (San Diego)
So not winning a major in 5 years is a small little drought. He has wasted 5 years of his prime without winning a major but he is suddenly going to start winning majors again as he gets older, LMFAO. The deep fields have nothing to do with tiger losing majors anymore, he plays like crap on majors weekends, he is no longer mentally able to win majors and the pressure only builds with each failure and time is not on his side. Please try and actually discuss golf intelligently instead of making excuses for your idol.

Did any of these win 5 MAJORS after the age of 37, I guess you missed the plural .Were any of these players on HGH like Tiger and who hasn't won a major since his Canadian doctor was indicted ? Were any of these players except Nicklaus, chasing the record 18 majors? Tiger is a head case who wants something he can't have and puts enormous pressure on himslef that he can't handle in the majors. It is fun watching him implode and make a fool of himself on the major weekends, poetic justice for a guy who is a serial cheater on and off the course.

RE: 2013 PGA Tour (San Diego)
The dude looks pretty dominant this weekend. I know this is a place he wins a lot, but that shouldn't detract from the performance. Will he be able to carry the momentum over to the next tournments and build on it up to the Masters? Who knows. I don't like the guy, and it won't hurt my feelings if he never wins a major again....but, if he plays at his best at any given major, there are only a few guys who could keep up with him, so I expect he'll win more.

Golf Channel also reports that Fritsch was intending to qualify for Phoenix. With his play today, he's likely not going to remain in the top 10 either. Tough deal. What's even better is that WRAL has decided the Young & Restless is more worthwhile than golf. www.golfchannel.com/news/golft...ifier-for-some/"They're our television partners, and they wanted to show it," he explained, noting that the decision on when to resume play Monday was one that was made late Sunday morning. "I thought we'd probably come in and finish tomorrow morning on Golf Channel, but CBS wants to do that and we're more than happy to accommodate." Those affected by the decision include several players in contention, notably Brad Fritsch, who will begin play Monday in fourth place with 11 holes remaining. Billy Horschel and Tag Ridings, both currently tied for 16th at 4 under, are also among the players whose plans for next week have been affected. When they get back on the South Course Monday, however, they - like Fritsch - will do so knowing that a top-10 finish at Torrey Pines will also grant them a spot in next week's field.

No huge fan of Tiger, I don't mind him. . . but I don't pull for him. That said, I think he is going to have a huge year and win a Major or two. He seems to be in a better place with his personal life and his swing looks the best it has since 08.

On Aug. 17, 2011, the Tour issued an “anti-doping warning” via the green sheet which is circulated to players monthly, when it was learned that Mark Calcavecchia and Ken Green were endorsing S.W.A.T.S’ “Ultimate Spray.” “The PGA Tour has learned that a supplement product marketed as ‘deer antler spray’ contains a prohibited substance under the PGA Tour anti-doping program,” the warning read.

I think Tiger will win one maybe 2 majors this year. Because i think he is finally in control of his "new swing" A new swing takes a few years to really trust..and what is this year 3? I would bet that Tiger will win one major this year.

You mean the new swing that went to hell on Sunday when he started hitting the ball 50 to 70 yards off line ? He started choking on Sunday with a huge lead in a meaningless tourney, he will again be a basket case on the weekends of majors. He will not win another major this year.
Will be interesting to see what they do to Vijay when all the HGH use Tiger did with the Canadian doctor is out there and the PGA did nothing to their meal ticket, wonder why ?

RE: 2013 PGA Tour (Phoenix - Vijay Singh and Deer Antler Spray)
^^^ Tough to claim ignorance after that report, IMO. If he does get a year ban, does he come back to the Tour or Champions Tour? Should have plenty of money, no real need to return except for the competitive juices. Do you say "**** it" or comeback and have to deal with the media scrutiny and whispers of fellow competitors?
^^ If Tiger hits it off the tee like he did the first 45 holes, he should be in the hunt at all of the majors this year. If he hits it off the tee like he did the last 27 holes, he'll have zero chance at Merion (US Open), Oak Hill (PGA) and most likely Muirfield (Open). He will always have a chance at Augusta.

Heard "Keith Hills" get a very nice mention on the air Sunday during discussion on Fritsch. I believe Gannon was the one that snuck the plug in.
Too bad this thread isn't staying anywhere close to a "constructive debate" standard... well at least in regards to one participant anyway. Nice performance for Tiger early in the season coming off a bad outing overseas. Too early to make any major predictions until we can determine what the consistency level will look like. Obviously when he's on he's either the first or second best player in the world right now.

The biggest improvement in his game this off season is going to be his short game around the greens and from 100 yards in. He struggled with that more than anything last year. Tiger's never going to drive the ball straight consistently, he's never been that type of player but it was his uber elite short game that always carried him through bad driving stretches. If he has that reigned in, which he did for most of last week's tourney then he'll be just fine.

Re: 2013 PGA Tour (Phoenix - Vijay Singh and Deer Antler Spray)
Vijay withdraws from Phoenix this morning citing a bad back. Was looking forward to him playing #16 and seeing what the crowd would say when he stepped on the tee. Too bad. Imagine a few people in Ponte Verde have been having sleepless nights since this story broke. Suspending a Doug Barron is no big deal. From reading the scribes tweeting yesterday, coming public with a suspension of even a semi-popular player, Anthony Kim (not PED's supposedly), is not on the to do list of those at PGA headquarters. Sitting Vijay publically will be a much bigger deal. Well known, but the NCAA drug testing program will get called out as well in regards to the SWAT story. Over 20 Alabama players and some Auburn players now involved. www.tuscaloosanews.com/article.../NEWS/130139971

RE: 2013 PGA Tour (San Diego)
I'm not a Tiger fan. But, Jack still thinks he can beat him. I have to think Jack knows more about golf than any of us, or Tiger, on this site. “I think Tiger’s work ethic is so good and I think his desire to pass my record is there,” said Nicklaus, 72. “He is still plenty young enough. So I believe he will, but he’s still got to do it. As each tournament passes his chances become smaller.” Woods is now 36 years and seven months old and has 14 majors. At the same age, Nicklaus also had 14 majors. So far, so similar, but while Nicklaus says that time is ticking away, he still believes that Woods has it on his side. Mickelson is (-8) thru 10 holes.
I'd imagine Vijay is rooting hard for a 59 from Phil to get him off golf's front pages for a day at least. With their history, how fantastic.

Make that (-10) thru 13. Par 71, so Phil needs (-2) in his last 5 holes to get 59. 58 maybe?

Here is a link to the video on PGAtour.com and the first video right now is Phil going through the whole round with Mark Rolfing. http://www.pgatour.com/video.html They also have the video that Sid just posted, but they show it from about 4 different angles.
