It's bad enough that Ohio State is ranked #13/14 in the polls currently.  Then add in the fact that they are a #4 seed in most bracket projections.  Their RPI is 24 with a SOS of 23, while we have an RPI of 16 and a SOS of 8.  Never ceases to amaze me how much the name on the front still matters when it comes to polls and rankings.

Probably because the Big 10 is top to bottom better than the ACC. Not to mention every single team they lost to was ranked in the top 20. We lost to Wake Forest.

Honestly, that game just pisses me off so much.  It bugs me to lose to an inferior team like Wake Forest like that, especially after being up 16 at the half.

If/when we finish in the top 4, I won't have anything more to say about that.

Hence my reference to the SOS. That eliminates any discussion about which conference is stronger.

^That West region is the weakest looking region I have ever seen in the history of the tourney. I would take that seed and that path every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

That is one lightweight bracket 1-16.

I wouldn't mind getting another crack at Okie State either.

I can tell ya right now...we would not want for the CBS Sportline Bracketology to be correct. St. Louis and top seed Gonzaga both have size in the interior. I thought a lot of our success last year was based on the matchups inside.

So Minnesota is a 4 seed & we're an 8?  With the SAME record?  Our RPI is 21, and theirs is 13 (pretty comparable).  Our SOS is Our strength of schedule is 17 & theirs is 3...still not too far off.  But a seeding of 4 slots lower is a HUGE difference in the tourney.

How many cupcakes can one team be slated to go through in one bracket?

It's almost like the committee wants State to make the Final Four.

Tournament committee probably knew they were going to be down this year, so they didn't bother scheduling any games in NC.

And glad to see that Ohio State is getting a butt kicking. I'm sure despite that, they will only drop a few spots in the polls.

I'm amazed at lack of intelligence being used in looking at those projections...

Too many people looking for sexy names to be at the top of the bracket.

For me, I see a tough second round matchup with a St. Louis squad ( 19-5, 2nd place  Atlantic 10) that has (2) 6'-11" posts.

If we made past that, say hello to a Top 5 Gonzaga team with a 7-footer who could be a lottery pick...

That's got 1 and done written all over it...now, if we play our best ball of the season and got past those two, then all bets are off. But in general, I would not want to be in that bracket.

Then you're an idiot

Do you expect all teams to not be tough come tourney time or something? Not sure what kind of draw you're expecting if you're an 8 seed.

LOL @ people worried about playing height when our clear defensive weakness is stopping dribble penetration. So you guys want to play small teams with a bunch of good guards? SMH

No need to argue over this....we should just be happy to know we're in already...even with the 8 seed...beats being on the bubble. I think we'll be OK against St. Louis too. Lets just enjoy not having to wait until selection day.

Arguing over something that is just a projection, no less.     The time for arguing and gnashing of teeth will be after selection Sunday.   Anything before hand is needless worry / waste of breath.  Or an excuse to take a drink,  wink

I agree...no need for me to freak out over a "projected" bracket but its funny that some people who think I'm making too much of it also thinks that projected region is very soft.

The whole point I'm trying to make is that the NCAA's is about matchups and those matchups being "projected" for us are not exactly the most favorable. Teams who play taller and longer than us, especially in the interior are the kinds who give our personnel the most problems.

Just for the sake of comparision, Lunardi's latest projections have us as a 7-seed playing Iowa State and then Syracuse in the Round of 32.

Now tell me, if we had a choice which group would you want to play on the first weekend of the NCAA's?

Jerry Palm's bracket is garbage. If a MWC team (Boise State) with a losing conference record gets in the tourney over someone like Maryland or Virginia then it's time to drug test the selection group.

This website was ranked the most accurate for their NBA Mock draft last season so they know their stuff. Anyways, here is their latest NCAA Bracket prediction.  I'd welcome this.
