I have to admit if I did not update this topic, I would not know anything about the other ACC teams this season except for the game they play NC State .

football record prediction (2010) 3-9, 1-7 (2011) 5-7, 2-6 (2012) 7-5, 4-4
MBB prediction: (2010-11) 21-9, 10-6 (2011-12) 19-12, 7-9 (2012-13) 24-7, 12-6

If I had to rank the teams so far, it look pretty much like the standings.  I'd probably flip UNC and FSU and maybe Clemson and MD.  We need to win some damn road games if we want a bye in the tourney.

Bad loss today for UVa.  They were already last 4 out by Lunardi before today's loss

Going to be a dogfight for those 3rd and 4th seeds.  Hopefully we can take one of them.   (Since we pretty much lost any possibility of top seed yesterday, and 2nd seed would take a near-miracle in Cameron and then some)

7 of our 9 remaining games are against teams behind us in standings.

3 of our 4 home games are against teams with a combined 7 ACC wins.

We play like we're capable, 3rd isn't going to be a problem.

12-6 or 11-7 is definitely attainable.

But if we played like we were capable all along, we'd be 8-1 or 9-0 right now.

Not gonna play the what if game, but Zo being hurt during a road game against UVa didn't help. We likely beat UVa and miami with him, but it wouldn't have given Tyler the chance to get some valuable experience. I'll take the trade-off at this point.

How's dook done since kelley got hurt?

(L by 8)@State, (L by 27)@miami, (W by 5)@wake, and blow out wins at home against GT and maryland.

If Zo is healthy come Thursday, and stays healthy, we don't lose more than 2 games until Saturday or Sunday in the ACC tourney.

You are playing the what if game. If we play like we're capable you said, we should finish top 3.

I thought you said we were going to win the ACCT. But you have us losing in our 2nd or 3rd game if we're a top 4 seed like you say we'll be. In other threads you say the tournament is what matters, not the regular season.

Sorry, but the season is not a success if the best team and the team picked by the both the coaches and the media to win the conference fails to win either the regular season or tournament, especially if we just equal last year's results.

Re: ACC MBB conference standings and the week ahead

I've never once, anywhere said we were going to win the regular season, or the tourney.

I said we won't lose until Saturday or Sunday of the ACC tourney. But that wasn't a loss prediction, it was a worse case scenario predicition.

Other than dook and unc-ch* there isn't team left on our schedule anywhere near as good as maryland, UVa, or miami.
wake was a bad loss in respect that they have a poor record and play poorly most of the time. They played very well against us, largely due to our foul trouble. They played very well against dook also.

Teams like clemson, GT, fsu, BC, etc are going to have to score 75+ points to even have a chance of beating us. I don't think they're capable of doing it.

Halfway point 5-4.

4-1 at home , 1-3 on the road.

Big opportunity this week with 2 road games against teams we have beaten at home.

Win these two (big task I know) and get to 3-3 on the road in the ACC (7-4 overall) and we are in a great position for the last 7 games.

GO PACK!!! BEAT DUKE!!!!!!

For that matter - of the 9 games we have left - the game at Duke is the hardest - win that and we are in a great position.

Horrible to see us behind the Cheats.  However, we will do much better with the remaining schedule but I think you can pencil in big L's for us at Crapple Hole and Cameron Crazy Institution.  To pull off a W at either of those places would be awesome.

Have you looked at unc's schedule?  I don't think we will be behind them for long.  Their remaining games are much tougher than our schedule.

Carolina is not that good.  They have improved a lot, but they have had a run of patsy conference games.  (I know, they are winning them.)

Not saying we will run the table (even if we win these two this week) - that would just leave us more room to drop a game or two later and still finish out strong.

RPI projections has us going 6-3 with the 3 losses being at Duke , At UNC-CHeat and either at Clemson or at Gtech (both are listed as 58% or 60 % wins - but the combo leads to a loss prediction).

If we can win these 2 that takes out 2 of the likely losses - and sure we probably drop one somewhere (like at the CHeats or at Gtech) but beating Duke in Durham would make up for those in a big way.

Sweeping Duke when they are still considered (by all polls/ratings) as top 5 would be huge.

One of the things that Jerry Palm talked about for the CHeats was that their best win so far is against UNLV. They have not beaten anyone.

We have - Duke. and the CHeats. and Standford -etc.

GO PACK!!! BEAT DUKE!!!!!

RE: ACC MBB conference standings and the week ahead

Well - 3 games separate us from being 2nd and only one game out of 1st too. :)

We now have a huge stretch - 8 games left NONE of which are against Miami/Duke/UVA - and only one (at UNC-CHeat) that we will not be favored to win.

Beat Clemson on Sunday - then we get 6 days off to rest and heal - then 3 of the next four are at home (starting with 2 in a row before visiting the CHeats).

Going into the week off with a win - breaking the 3 game losing skid - starting a new winning streak ( we will win the rest of our home games I believe) would be huge. Clemson scored 10 points in the 1st half at UVA last night.

We need to win - and for our emotional well being - we need to win by 10 or more and never have the game be in doubt - let's have some fun and win big!

GO PACK!!! BEAT CLEMSON!!!!!!

I have to say, that's disappointing.   I  didn’t think we were better than dook, but I thought we were better than some of the ones above us and beside us in the standings.  We REALLY need to start a winning streak with Clemson and finish strong,….injuries be damned.
