With mega-ACC, it's a tougher job to fill. Program died with Skip Prosser. Maybe they need to look at Atlantic 10 or pitiful Big East

I have no clue what's going on at WFU.  The article was correct -- the program died when Skip passed away.  Wellman was "THE MAN "  back then...and could do no wrong.  Now -- I think he's an idiot.  He brought Bzz in without any justification and he's backed him from day one.  Folks have criticized him for doing so and if he made a change now -- he'd be admitting he screwed up.  We are stuck for at least one more year.

I'm not saying Wellman was right or wrong in grabbing Bzzz, but at this point, really, he's doing what an AD must do.  You've chosen your horse...you ride it until the race is over, then go find something better.  Idiot fans will say "you lied", or "look how wrong you were", but the AD has to play it that way politically.

Comparing Bzzzz to Herb is stupid. Herb would coach circles around Bzzzz. I didn't care for Sendek, but it was never as bad as it is now at WF under Sendek.

Can someone refresh my memory?  Why was Gaudio fired?

Comparing Bzzzz to Herb is stupid. Herb would coach circles around Bzzzz. I didn't care for Sendek, but it was never as bad as it is now at WF under Sendek.

Because he's a jackarse who was too stupid to realize he was pissing everyone off that wrote his paychecks. If he wouldn't have been so full of himself, he'd probably still be there. One things for sure, Wake would be way better off if they didn't let their wine and cheese type attitude interfere with their coaching decisions. I can't stand wake people

They had the same complaints with Dino that we had with Sendek. Good, not good enough.

I'm not sure of the behind-the-scenes reason, but the reason Wellman gave was basically "Gaudio didn't have post-season success" (I think he got bounced in the 1st round of the NCAAs 2-3 times in a row).

Nope.  They leaked that after the fact when the AD realized we weren't thrilled about hiring a proven historical loser to replace a guy that went 61-31 (even if most of us did was Gaudio fired)

probably because Wake got tired of covering up the thuggery of the basketball team...Gaudio's teams ran wild from what I understand- failed drug tests, girlfriend bashing, poor academics, etc.
