Still - you are correct - start winning at Clemson and we never look back on a solid NCAA bid.
GO PACK!!! BEAT CLEMSON!!!!!
Note : Sagarin now updated from last night as well so :
RPI #19 Sagarin #21 Pomeroy #29
Danceard updates every weekend until later in the season (has us at #22 as of Sunday's games). We are not in a bad spot if we stop the bleeding at Clemson.

RE: Yearly RPI Sagarin Pomeroy Ratings Thread
Based on rpi's projected finish for all teams in ACC these are the projected final standings (projections through games of Sunday 2/10/2013) :
#1 Miami 16-2 #2 Duke 14-4 #3 UVA 12-6 #4 NCSU 11-7 #5 UNC-CH 10-8 #6 FSU 8-10 #7 MD 8-10 #8 Clemson 8-10 #9 Gtech 7-11 #10 Wake 6-12 #11 BC 5-13 #12 Vatech 4-14
I still think we can do better than 11-7 but we shall see. Key is to win our home games and steal a couple/3 on the road.
GO PACK!! BEAT VaTech!!!
Our 4 home games left are Vatech, FSU, BC, and Wake - bottom dwellers this year and none good on the road - we need to win all 4. Road games at the CHeats (winnable but toughest left) and at Gtech (tough at home) and at FSU (also tough at home).

We really do need to start separating ourselves from the crud in this league. I really hope we start playing great basketball again soon. The time to peak is obviously in March (as we did last year), so here's hoping we do it again. If we can get Purvis and Warren contributing again, I think we can do it.
CBS still has us as an 8-seed (as of today), despite our #17 RPI ranking. That would suck (but not worse than being in the NIT).

We need to take a deep breath, we still have at least 8 games left this season, and we have the toughest stretch of games behind us. Our SOS is good enough now to stay strong the rest of the way, as long as we win the games we should win and nothing else, we are in the tourney. The bball gods owe us one more like yesterday. We should be focused on a 3 or 4 seed in the ACC tourney at this point, need UVa and UNC to loose a bunch and we win 5 of the last 7 at a minimum.

ACC teams as predicted for NCAAT by Danceard :
#1 Duke #4 Miami #22 NCSU #39 UNC-CHeats #47 UVA (on the bubble as the bubble bursts at 50)
------------------------------------------OUT----- -----------------------------
#60 FSU #66 MD #102 Gtech #110 Wake #113 Clemson #144 BC #154 Vtech
Still 5 ACC teams in (UVA barely) and all 12 ACC teams in the top 154 - not bad considering the past few years we have had 2 or 3 in the 200+ region.
GO PACK!!!

Doesn't Jeff Goodman do those columns? If we get back in the top 25 we shouldn't be less than a 5 seed. An 8 seed means we are ranked 32-36ish which I don't foresee if we can start winning again as I expect we will.

UConn beating Syracuse last night should help us out too. We just need to take care of our business and get a top 4 seed in the ACC and I think we will get a decent seed in the NCAA. If we could win in Greensboro, we might get up to a 2 or 3, but that is still weeks away.
Let's take care of VT on Saturday and roll from there.

Actually an 8 seed is 28ish-32nd-ish...Pomeroy(which has our predicted finishes in the upcoming games factored in to his rankings) has us at 31...which would most likely be an 8 seed. Of course if we do end up at 31 in the RPI, hopefully we will have ended semi-hot and can get a nod for a 7 seed...

Re: Yearly RPI Sagarin Pomeroy Ratings Thread
Most years I'd say 8th seed is killer - you end up playing 1 seed in the second round. However this year the 1 seeds aren't looking so hot.
That being said - at this point I'd much rather be 3-6 seed, which would be indicative of a good finish to the regular season and/or ACC tourney.

As of Sunday's games (right now they only update once a week - more often later in the season) the Danceard formula has us at #22 - they are the most accurate in predicting the NCAA tourney in the past - that would put us around a 6 seed.
Win 5 of our last 7 and go to the ACC championship game we can probably get up to a 3rd or 4th seed. Win out and win the ACC T - 2 seed is about as high as we could get.
Most important now is to finish in the top 4 ACC and avoid ACCT Thursday - then we have a real shot at winning the ACCT.
GO PACK!!! BEAT Vtech!!!

win the 4 home games at a minimum and we should be no lower than a 10 seed. each win other than that should boost us up a seed, more or less.

But it's still damn tough to watch Miami have the season we were all hoping for. I really think our weakness to this point is playing so few guys. We have great talent, but that talent is tired at the end of the games. I would love to see Vandy get more minutes. Give him the clear direction he is not to shoot unless it's a dunk. His height changes the post offense for the other team and he has 5 fouls to give.

Dance card has us as a #6 seed and 99.99% chance of making the tournament.
Tough with all the close losses this season, but we are in a great position and the goal is always to make the NCAA to give yourself the opportunity to make a run. That goal is very much in reach.
That said, let's finish the regular season off right! Beat VT! (Also they have UVA in as well with an RPI of 77).

Of course, no one cares....clearly, we suck and have underperformed. Yeah we had a pretty tough OOC schedule, plus our ACC slate turned out to be *very* front-loaded. 6 of our last 7 games are against the bottom half of the ACC (@UNC being the other). We probably won't finish the season with 2nd toughest schedule. However what that does mean is that our record isn't that indicative of our quality, and I think this shows in the polls - we're not close to 25, yet computer rankings all have us well within. Coaches and press seem to care more about whether you win or lose, not who you win or lose to. We need to take care of business these last 7 games. Anything less than 5-2 and will be extremely disappointing, and even 5-2 wouldn't be so good.

Given our remaining schedule - against 6 teams that may not even make the NIT and one that's on the NCAA bubble - yes 4-3 would be pretty bad. I've watched us play lately and indeed have been quite disappointed. But at least we're still 6-5 over the hardest part of the ACC schedule. Going 4-3 against the cupcake part of the schedule would be way worse IMO. That would be major meltdown time. Four of those are at home, so that would mean we're either 0-3 against FSU, GT, and UNC on the road, or else have at least one really bad home loss.

I think we will go at least 5-2, maybe 6-1, with the possibility of 7-0. I'd be happy with 23-8 at this point, but of course I'd be really happy with 24-7 considering our mid-season struggles and Zo's injury.

I would be dissapointed if this team finished 4-3 against the teams left. We play the worst 3 teams at home. The other bottom 4 team on the road. That should be 4 wins. Losing at GT would be dissappointing.
