Jason Kidd has been incredible this year so far. What happened to the PG that didn't have much of an outside shot??? This year he's hitting 50% behind the arc.

How does an NBA team, with two 1st team All-NBA defensive players, give up 41 points in a quarter?

RE: The Official 2012-13 NBA Thread
The entire knock on D'antoni at the start was his defense was poor. The apologists said "he's never had Kobe/Dwight level talent to work with". Now what? They're giving up 120 a game with Dwight/Kobe level talent. Add to it Howard wants the ball down low on the blocks and D'Antoni wants to run the pick'n'roll and what you get is a complete fusterkluck of a team....
You've got Howard/Kobe/Artest/Nash on your team, 11-time champion coach Phil Jackson wanting to come back and you go with....a guy who can't coach defense and forces an offensive schemes that doesn't fit the personnel. Someone in the front office needs to lose their job.

Happy players probably would play defense more often.

J.J. Hickson is becoming a borderline all-star in Portland. Six straight double-doubles after tonight's 18/18. Top ten in rebounding (#4 in rebounds/48 minutes). All this as an undersized center who, until the last several games, rarely had any plays called for him.

If you take his first 3 years in Cleveland and pretend he spent them in a Wolfpack uniform this would be the start of his 3rd year in the league which mean he's developing nicely.

And to think, Sacramento gave up on Hickson after half a season and traded him for a player not even on their roster this season. Minnesota breaks OK City's 12 game win streak. Hottest team in the league right now is the LA Clippers with 11 wins in a row

What the heck is the actual rule regarding continuation in the NBA? Basically a player can get fouled on the floor, take a step or two, then shoot and have it count? Does the phrase 'in the act of shooting' even matter anymore?

Re: The Official 2012-13 NBA Thread
I just dont see OK City ever winning a championship with Russell Westbrook running the team. He went 5-19 against Miami today in a rematch of last season's Championship series with 3 assist to 6 turnovers.
Westbrook is shooting on 40.7 percent on the season but continues to take 18 shots a night. They should have kept Harden and let Westbrook go if they want a NBA title.

Re: The Official 2012-13 NBA Thread
Is it time to call the LA Clippers the favorite out west. They just won their 14th game in a row and are so balanced that there bench outscored the starters, with Billups and Hill inactive. This should make for a very fresh team come playoff time. Who would you rather have running the show at crunch time, Chris Paul or Russell Westbrook ?

Does the phrase 'in the act of shooting' even matter anymore? As long as you are making a move that results in a shot attempt & don't put the ball on the floor again, you can take your two legal steps and a shot after being fouled and have the shot count. But you can't, say, get hand checked while just dribbling the ball and try to get continuation, nor can your normal foul in the post result in it.

Re: The Official 2012-13 NBA Thread
Speaking of the Trailblazers,
I know Anthony Davis was the overwhelming favorite for ROY in the NBA and may still win it, but right now Damon Lilliard is the best rookie in the league. Leads all rookies in scoring(18.4) and assist(6.3) and tied for second in steals. Trailblazers have a winning record with quite possibly the worst bench in the NBA this year, maybe one of the worst ever. Leading bench scorer averages 4.7 a game.
JJ Hickson, what a comeback. Fifth in the NBA in rebounding, Fourth in shooting percentage.
