I imagine Terry is back to a 6th man role when Avery gets back.  Bradley is a monster defender.

Will definitely cut into Barbosa's minutes as well, though, it never hurts to have that added depth in case they do have some injuries like last year in the playoffs when AB was out and Allen was playing at under 100%.

OKC traded the wrong guard, Westbrook continues to shoot them out of games 6-19 in a loss to the red hot Memphis Grizzlies tonight. Shooting 40 percent on the season before tonight

They should keep what they have with Melo at the 4 and have Amare coming off the bench when he's back healthy, but they won't.  They'll start Amare back at the four and Melo at 3 and screw up everything they have going.

Is there a better offensive rebounder in the NBA that Kenneth Farried ?
Guy had 20 boards against Miami with 11 on the offensive end.

JR Smith stopped partying and going out every night and look at what it has done to his game. Crazy what being fully committed to your craft will actually do.

Andrew Bynum had a set back with his knees because of bowling. He loves bowling and not going to fault the kid for still living his life, but it's becoming very apparent he's turning into Oden part deuce. The Lakers were smart in getting rid of this kid when they did.

They just got Nene back and John Wall will be back at some point, so they'll be at least a little better.  Their biggest problem is they're a jump shooting team that can't shoot.

Brawl in Boston tonight. Rondo, Wallace and Humphries all ejected. Humphries pushes KG to the court. Rondo takes up for KG and starts pushing Humphries, all Hell breaks loose.

Punk move by Rondo but expected. Look at the foul, all Humphries was doing was making sure KG didn't get a clean shot up. It wasn't even that hard or violent, and KG over sold it. Running up to a guy and shove punching him in the chest straight punk move. He's probably still pissed about that screen Humphries set on him last year. Video below of that too.

There's a difference between being pushed to the floor and flopping to the floor.  KG did the latter.

The Spurs are sitting most of their starters against Miami tonight, and David Stern has said they will face significant sanctions. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.....why shouldn't a team have the right to rest players when they seem necessary? In the 3rd quarter now, and Miami is only up by a few points.

Re: The Official 2012-13 NBA Thread

Dwight Howard just doesn't understand what it means to be a leader. He's always been a spoiled little brat and his inability to step up and take some blame for last night's loss just proves it. I love Kobe and Nash but I can't root for these guys with that punk wearing purple and gold. He shot 5-10 in the 4th quarter at the FT line and after the game when asked said about it he said him missing FT's wasn't the reason they lost, it was the team defense. Yes Dwight we know the Lakers defense is struggling and struggled down the stretch but at that moment you step up like a mature man and say "you know what I missed my FT's, I have to make those, this one's on me" whether he believed it or not. That's what men do, that's what leaders do, that's what champions do. And you're none of them!

Knicks are playing very well without Stoudemire(especially Melo). He has been the subject of trade rumors and I think the Knicks would trade him in a heart beat if the opportunity is there. They would love to get rid of his contract.

Amare's previous injuries make him just about untradeable, not to mention what he makes salary wise. He's mentioned that he would be willing to be the 6th man, but that's something we will have to wait and see once he returns in a couple of weeks.

Anybody notice what Mark Jackson is doing at Golden State this season?
He has the Warriors at 12-7, without Andrew Bogut(4 games played) or Brandon Rush(out for the season). Looks like getting rid of Mario Ellis was a good move, freeing up time for second year big guard(6' 7") Klay Thompson(15.8 ppg)

Curry is leading the team with 19.6 ppg and also 6.5 assists
David Lee is also producing at 18.2 ppg and 10.9 rebounds

Jackson has turned these guys around and looks like they may have a good shot at the playoffs in his second season.

Knicks and Nets have played 2 intense games so far, both in Brooklyn. Was interesting to hear the crowd as their were definitely a decent amount of Knicks fans in the building.

Kobe was very cool considering what's going on. He's out there playing at a very high level for his age, shooting a very good percentage, and his goofy *** teammates can't defend simple pick and rolls or keep from getting blown by on the perimeter.

No. Nash can't defend, and D'Antoni can't teach defense.

Unless he's hurt more than he lets on, his lack of defense is baffling.

I'm thinking that has to be the case. A guy like that just doesn't forget how to play defense  overnight when he's shown how dominant he can be. If it's not an injury part of it is probably his lack of touches on offense. Some guys for whatever reason have trouble motivating themselves or finding a flow in the game when they aren't touching the ball.

Why did anyone on this board and especially those in the media expect anything differently from the Lakers.

1. It's universally known 'Antoni teams never played good defense. Why would things be differently with the Lakers?
2. Dwight Howard was exposed as a fraud and headcase last season in Orlando and it's carried over to the Lakers.
3. Steve Nash is damn near 40 and when he returns to the lineup the defense will be even worse.

"If you want the truth, ask me".

Of course if they keep it up people will keep saying they should have picked the Zen master, but folks need to remember how bad the Lakers defense was his last go round. I know you can coach defense and certain schemes, principles, etc. which has never been D'Antoni's strong suit, but these guys have been playing basketball their entire lives and not a 1 of them looks like they know how to guard a basic pick and roll against anyone. Kobe isn't washed clean of blame either. Yes he gets more of a pass for carrying the offense but I've noticed plenty of times his defense has been slouch with switches and he loses his man a lot when it comes to boxing out.

Can we switch gears for a second and talk about the Knicks? I had them as sleeper's before the season started in the East. I think they are legit. They stole the Mavericks blueprint and 2 of their players from that championship team and it just might work.
