Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
The Bulldogs are in town to take on the #2 Gophers this weekend. Both games start at 7. Friday night game on FSN+ and Saturday is on the BTN (I hate their coverage). Hopefully we can sweep some in-state rivals this weekend. Shoutout to a friend back in HS though on the Dogs, Tony Cameranesi. Great guy, hopefully he has a great weekend individually, but his team struggles.
A Proud Minnesotan to the day I die

Should be an easy sweep. I know next to nothing about this UMD squad as they lost everyone. There most dynamic player is Sidel and he was third line last year I think and not that great.

RE: Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
As usual, Lucia won't keep the same lines. Part of the reason, I would guess, is that Ambroz is injured, something that will hurt the Gophers. Here are the lines for Minnesota.
Kyle Rau Nick Bjugstad Zach Budish
Sam Warning Erik Haula Nate Condon
A.J. Michaelson Christian Isackson Justin Holl
Tom Serratore Travis Boyd
Seth Helgeson Ben Marshall
Mike Reilly Mark Alt
Brady Skjei Nate Schmidt
Jake Parenteau - Extra Skater
Adam Wilcox

RE: Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
And some lines for the Bulldogs:
Mike Seidel (UMD leading scorer with 13 goals and 14 assists) Caleb Herbert Justin Crandall
Austin Farley Tony Cameranesi Joe Basaraba
Cody Danberg Jake Hendrickson Keegan Flaherty
Dan DeLisle Cal Decowski Adam Krause
Drew Olson Andy Welinski
Tim Smith Chris Casto
Derik Johnson Wade Bergman
Matt McNeely
A really underrated player on this team is freshman Tony Cameranesi formerly of Wayzata High School. He was one of the top players in the state his senior year and already has 12 goals and 13 assists for the Bulldogs. Kid will be quite a player if he sticks around.

And we are a bout ready to drop the puck from Maruicci Arena. Should be a fun game. Even though UMD is down this year, you know they just want to crush the Gophers which always makes things enjoyable to watch.

RE: Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
Gophers will some good hustle to start the game but an icing will bring it back into their own end.

Decent chance out front for UMD following a Schmidt turnover.

RE: Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
Condon with a great rush down the ice sneaks one by McNeely. It will be reviewed as it may not have crossed the goal line.

RE: Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
That was VERY close. It almost went in on the original shot and also may have gone in on the second half (but the goal also came off). Lots to look at in this replay. Not expecting a quick verdict.
Should mention that it was called a goal on the ice.

GOAL is upheld. Condon credited for the goal. Ben Marshall and Sam Warning get the assists at 4:04. Minnesota takes a 1-0 lead.

Budish and Bjugstad find themselves on a 2-on-1 but cannot score.

Gophers are getting outshot 7-4 but still hold the 1-0 with 10:18 left in the period.

RE: Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
Boyd get decked in front of the net and draws a penalty on Hill-Murray (Minn.) alum Christ Casto. Gophers will head to the powerplay.

RE: Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
Aside from allowing a shorty, that is about the worst powerplay the Gophers could have had. I believe Budish had the only shot on net.
Gophers take a penalty on the break and will head to the PK. Not a great sequence for Minnesota.

UMD with a ton of time in the offensive zone but no great chances yet.

RE: Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
UMD powerplay looks almost as bad as the Gophers'.

RE: Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
Tons of offensive pressure by the Gophers but no real shots. UMD now outshooting the Gophers 11-5. 3:09 remaining in the first.

RE: Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
Boyd scores but its called no goal as Serratore was in the crease. He got a couple shoves from the UMD player so it could be close.

RE: Series Thread: UMD at Minnesota
No goal. Not really sure how I feel about that. On replay it looked like Serratore got shoved into McNeely not once but twice.
Probably tough to overturn when it was called no goal on the ice.
