Game Thread: No.1 Minnesota vs. No. 2 Notre Dame
Vs. the no. 2/3 ranked Irish. Would be a huge statement to beat the teams ranked 2nd/3rd back to back.
EDIT: Its not tuesday yet. THanks Beast. EDIT2: Its tuesday now.

Re: HUGE Game TONIGHT!
Game is at 7 for those who don't know. A VERY rare midweek game in college hockey. Game is on FSN+ so be sure to look there, not the normal channel. Should be interesting to watch Dad go against son tonight. Hopefully Dad wins!

I just got here, but I am beginning to love midweek college hockey. Hopefully the crowd turns out tonight to see the top two teams in the country square off.

Going to watch the game at the same ND Alum's house where I watched the football game last night. I hope the Bama momentum carries over to the Golden Gophers!

RE: Game Thread: No.1 Minnesota vs. No. 2 Notre Dame
For the Fighting Irish
LW-Jeff Costello C-Anders Lee RW-Bryan Rust
LW-Mario Lucia C-T.J. Tynan RW-Mike Voran
LW-Nick Larson C-David Gerths RW-Austin Wuthrich
LW-Thomas DiPauli C-Steven Fogarty RW-Peter Schneider
D-Shayne Taker D-Stephen Johns
D-Kevin Lind D-Robbie Russo
D-Eric Johnson D-Sam Calabrese
At first glance, this team isn't as big as it has been in previous years but the Irish do some possess come great size. Edina, Minnesota natives Anders Lee (6-3, 220) and Steven Fogarty (6-3, 202) are both big guys with lots of skill.
I got to watch Fogarty quite a bit during his senior season with the Hornets and was really impressed. Kid can play a physical game and also put the puck away, already scoring four goals in his freshman season.

Don't make fun of him too much for last night until you know the outcome of this game.

RE: Game Thread: No.1 Minnesota vs. No. 2 Notre Dame
One other note on the Notre Dame roster, they only have two seniors on their playing roster (D-Sam Calabrese, LW-Nick Larson). Provided their top juniors stick around, this team could actually be better next season.
Should be a good test for the Gophers who have a very similar class disbursement on their roster.

With his whole family in attendance, Don Lucia is being honored pregame for his 600th career win. Pretty cool to have his son Mario with him for that.

And the Gophere score just over a minute into the game! A rip by Nate Condon on the rush. Top corner, stick side. Great shot, especially considering he is filling in for Erik Haula.
Budish and Warning pick up the assists at 1:21.

Bjugstad picks off a pass in the Irish zone and almost scores on two shot attempts. Great effort there by the assistant captain.

Irish take a penalty as Ambroz is leveled from behind. Two minutes for boarding on F Peter Schneider.

RE: Game Thread: No.1 Minnesota vs. No. 2 Notre Dame
With Haula out, the Gophers will put Mike Reilly on the powerplay with Schmidt. Haula usually plays as the fourth forward/second defenseman with the man advantage.

RE: Game Thread: No.1 Minnesota vs. No. 2 Notre Dame
Nothing going on the powerplay with 45 seconds left. ND is just too physical on the boards to let the Gophers get anything set up.
