Coleman drains two FTs to make it 37-19 with just over two minutes remaining in the first. He has a team-high 9.

Mav with a turnover. Coaches don't look too happy right now.

Nice play by Buggs on defense to get in position and take the charge. Gophers ball.

RE: Game Thread: Mankato vs. Minnesota

Austin hits a three to give the Gophers a commanding 42-22 lead following a Mav layup.

20-point margin at half is all the Gophers could have hoped for, especially playing all 12 scholarship players.

Most impressive player in the first was Mo who was moving very well, putting in a couple buckets with strong post play. Minnesota will love having him back this year.

Some stats at the half.

Rodney-6 points, 2 rebs
Coleman-3/3 from the floor, 9 points
Dre-2 fouls in five minutes
Mo-3/3 from the field, 6 points

Gophers are shooting 18/25 (72%) in the first half. They do need to cut down on their TOs after having seven in the first 20 minutes.

Gophers miss two shots to start the second. Dre back in the game with Rodney, Coleman, Austin, and Elliot.

And Dre with a steal and big dunk on the break. He's playing well in the second.

Rodney follows that up with a massive dunk of his own off a great dish by Coleman.

Ingram with a big dunk on the baseline as he draws the foul. Great pass by Welch to set it up.

Really sloppy offense by the second unit. Ingram eventually makes a basket 62-32 in favor of the Gophers.

Mbakwe coming back into the game.

Gophers will take this one easily, 81-56 over the Mavericks. Strong showing by Minnesota, especially the first unit.

...and here I'm thinking...wow, Mankato scored 56 points...impressive job by the Mavericks.

Good to see we didn't really come out flat to start the year.

Also, very, very good to hear that Mo is moving well. He can have a huge impact (no pun intended) if he's healthy and playing to his ability this year.
