Jeff Jones

Guess he didn't get the score on the ACT that he needed to get through the clearinghouse and will be taking a couple summer classes to try and get through.  Hopefully he can do it, would be a huge blow to have him not be able to join the Gophers this fall.
Shhh..... My Common Sense is Tingling.

Re: Jeff Jones

It will be tough for him to get in now, but the Gophers should be okay for this season as they got Donnell Kirkwood, David Cobb, Rodrick Williams and Berkley Edwards all in the backfield. The future will be the main problem if he doesn't qualify because after this season, they lose Kirkwood and Cobb.

Re: Jeff Jones

It probably won't be this fall, but he'll be available after Juco, which would be more timely given the RBs at Minnesota right now.

Re: Jeff Jones

He is still working on going to Minnesota and could potentially go there, but not play football the first year. He would just be a student and if he got good grades the first year, then he could play the next year. Or he could go the JUCO route. Still, Minnesota is trying to get him in for this year and hopefully have him on the field in the fall.

Re: Jeff Jones

While this obviously hurts if he can't make it this fall he could still end up a Gopher after a year of school or two years JuCo. This is also the reason why the staff went after Rodney Smith so hard. Smith is far from a slouch himself and while the possible Barber/Maroney-esque tandem becomes less likely with the recent Jones development Smith is more than capable of being a feature back.
