Squawks vs. Pokes
Is it to our advantage for KU to win this game? Other than our visit to Stillwater, this is the last real opportunity for Okie State to lose. They should win their other games on sheer talent alone.
KU, on the other hand, also has road trips to Iowa State and Baylor ahead of them, which are potential booby traps. They could win tonight but still stumble in one of those others.
My heart says screw KU regardless, and go Pokes. My head says it might be beneficial if OSU drops this one and KU gets its just desserts in Ames or Waco.
But..........there's no guarantee KU will lose in Ames or Waco.
So they might as well lose tonight. Screw it. I can't bring myself to cheer for the mutant parrots.
Here's to Pistol Pete and Eskimo Joe. Ride 'em, Cowboys.

Re: Squawks vs. Pokes
I think KU needs to get a loss. I might be a homer (might?) but I think there is a better chance of us beating OSU than KU losing to ISU. And OSU still needs to go to ISU as well. Who knows. Just win, baby.

RE: Squawks vs. Pokes
It's definately beneficial for the Pokes to win. If they do, then we are in complete control to win the conference by 1 game. If KU wins, they have pretty much 1 game they could trip up on, which is at ISU. I don't see BU causing them problems. I don't want to have to rely on other teams. For OSU, they'll still 2 games they can trip up on, at ISU and against us.
Plus, I have a very hard time rooting for a fanbase as arrogant as the Beakers. Let's go OSU!!!

RE: Squawks vs. Pokes
Would prefer OSU to win. Both OSU and KU still have @ISU as another potential loss, but if OSU wins, KSU at least has a chance to beat OSU and claim a title. If KU wins, there is no chance for KSU to beat KU and would have to rely on winning out or KU losing to ISU.

RE: Squawks vs. Pokes
I would much rather we control our own destiny. If KU wins, then even if we win out we would be "tied" with KU for the title. Being tied with a team that beat us twice doesn't sit right and I would have a hard time saying we are Big 12 champs. If OSU wins, however, then if we win out we would be Big 12 champs by ourselves.

Besides I can not make myself cheer for KU although that whinny shrimp of a coach OSU has may make me think about it.

Re: Squawks vs. Pokes
Since they're already downgrading our win over Florida and ripping our "weak schedule", we need OSU to win big over KU and then we do some kicking butt over OSU in the final game so we have momentum going into the conf. tourney and a strong argument to the committee when it comes to seeding.

Exactly. I objected that OU shouldn't have claimed a shared title in football when KSU beat them in Norman. I have objections every time KU claims X straight title without listing that 3 were shared. I would be a hypocrite if I celebrated a shared title in which one team beat the other team both home and away unlike the solo games in the examples above.

RE: Squawks vs. Pokes
Since I have degrees from both KSU and OSU, nothing would please me more than to have both my universities tied for the B12 lead, with the Beakers odd man out, then the Cats win a squeaker at OSU to end the season. GO POKES! God, I hate KU!

RE: Squawks vs. Pokes
I wonder how much (if any) the recent Rio Adams fiasco will have on the team? I know he didn't get meaningful minutes, but distractions usually aren't good.. especially just hours before one of the biggest games of the year.
