Manhattan and Riley County, A Big , Big Monday, Shame On You
A first place KSU team on ESPN Big Monday pitted against our former coach. and there are open seats everywhere.
Was Clint Eastwood in town doing a review of "Rawhide, The Early Years" at The Flint Hills Museum?

RE: Manhattan and Riley County, A Big , Big Monday, Shame On You
If I am not mistaken, K-State basketball has won more games in the past few years than at any other in our history, and it isn't even close- our fan support is bullshit, we're never going to break beyond where we ar enow if the people just don't care or won't show up- never have K-State football and basketball been so prolifically successful at the same time as it is now. Are people not showing up because Martin's clown antics aren't here to amuse us anymore? What will it take to get the people to show up next year- a conference title? A Final Four? Seeing rows of empty seats on national TV is not only embarassing as a fan, but also has to be a blow to the interest of recruits- if we ever start to get interest from more top 100 players, do you think they are going to want to play at K-State, where their smaller arena is only 80% full, or Kansas, where their much bigger arena is always 100% full? So irritating every time I watch a game.

By the way, Engineer, since you like so much to bag on those of us who make our homes in Riley County...why don't you move here and contribute to curing the ills you accuse us of?

AGREE.........pathetic support. Seems there's always an excuse. This team offensively is light years ahead of anything FM developed. I guess the FM antics filled seat, despite KSU now having what I consider a more quality coach.

I didn't realize that only people from a twenty mile radius were allowed to go to the game...

Yes, I was there. I got back to KC around 12:30. I do not expect people to be as kooky as my wife and I. But I do expect Riley County and Manhattan to support the University that has a FIRST place team. The KSU Athletic Department has pumped almost $100 million into the Manhattan economy with the Press Box, Practice facility, and now the Rowing facility.
Manhattan and Riley County take KSU for granted. I present last night as a point of evidence.
John Currie seriously should investigate a NFL rule where Cox Cable in Riley County blacks out KSU events that are not sold out.

Sir, I do not need to move there, because it is obvious I am doing a better job of supporting the School from KC. Get off your couch and support the Cats and your University. Manhattan would be Ogden II if not for KSU.

Re: Manhattan and Riley County, A Big , Big Monday, Shame On You
1) Ahearn Donations aren't pumped into the Manhattan Ecomony--they're pumped into KSU. 2) The Athletic Department is very, very careful to make sure that the business community gives back one way or another. They've been known to play dirty and also play favorites. For example, if you're a hotel owner they're very quick to point out that "you make money from our success" and they show up with palms facing upwards. They will ask for free rooms, discounts, etc. If you dare suggest that you can't afford to give back at the levels they request they'll find your competitor and blackball you. They're like the mafia--with less ethics. >>> Is winning good for the local economy? Of course it is and no one can argue otherwise, but please don't suggest that the local people or businesses "owe" the athletic department. Most of us who have been around just hold our noses when we deal with them. WildcatEngineer wrote:

Halftime was a) kid shooting a free throw b) Classy Cats and "guests" doing a nice routine, c) Students playing the remove the mat game, and d) little ones dunking. Coach Snyder did not attend. Representative Yoder was down on the north end. Danny Klinkscale, 810, was walking around the Press section. Look at Sections 18 and the south end. There were lots of open seats. If it is getting old, step up and do something. Like support our University.

Well, I don't know what the hell else could have been going in in MHK on a Monday night that was so awesome.
Bramlage is getting old. Should retire it and refit Ahearn so that its ADA compliant, with a few high dollar Suites and seating for 7000.
I'm kidding. Kind of. Doesn't seem to be much of a premium on the tickets. Too much supply. The Bramlage detractors were always til to simmer down, winning cures everything.
As long as its not on a Monday, evidently.
The Purple Wrath shall cometh...and that right soon.

When you have a good opportunity to showcase the program and fail to fill the arena, well, recruits probably do take note to say nothing about building a true home court advantage. It seems to me that people, in the area, want a big star on the roster.
