Re: Is Butler the best in the state?

I'll reserve judgement on that until Butler plays a season in the B1G.

Coach is going to take some heat on the message boards, to be sure--but it's a league of very tough teams.  This was an inspired effort by Wiscy tonight, particularly on the defensive end.

Sometimes, you just get beat.  It's happened to Butler this year.  It's happened to every team, every coach, every season, since 1976.

We'll be fine.  We'll be better.

Well one thing for sure, They don't have near the talent that we do, but they have a coach that is as good as any one in the nation, he pays attention to whats happening in the game, dont spend his time on the sidelines clapping his hands red and running up and down the sidelines like a girl scout cheerleader. Maybe that's why they win close games. Some coaches have Mr. basketball's and McD's All Americans up and down their bench and just can't seem to win even if they are ranked #1 in the nation, Just wonder why?

Re: Is Butler the best in the state?

yes Butler is the best team in the state...best coached also...they come to play every game and they don't play soft like IU...some IU players are no shows to often...freshman playing like HS seniors...no help at all...losing 11 on a row to one team is totally unacceptable with IU BB...BIG lead on line and at AH and they don't come to play...all on the coaching because they didn't have them ready for a big game...and I'm glad all the hang banner six talk is over because it's not happening with this bunch..."The Movement"...was a no show in Bloomington.

The big movement at IU was a bowel movement when Glass extended Crean's contract. Five year's is enough talking the talk but not walking the walk.
Will he accomplish anything in +5? Sad to say, nothing more than the last 5. Gonna be a bumpy ride. JMHO

IU loaded and loading the talent but they sorely lack good coaching...except when they play the cupcakes...JMHO.

Re: Is Butler the best in the state?

There's a difference between being actually the best in the state and having upset Indiana in overtime when IU played one of its worse games in the season. Yes, they deserved the win; they play hard and they are better coached. You've got to like them and admire what they do. But does anyone really think they would win a 7 game series with IU? I am sure a few do but I don't think so. And they have been as vulnerable as any of the top teams to being beat. They play great but I don't think they are a better team than IU. As another poster put it, let's see how they would do if they were playing a Big 11 schedule. They might crack the top five by season end but I doubt it.

Re: Is Butler the best in the state?

I'm sorry I was under the impression that the topic posed here was what viewers thought was the best team in the state. If I had noticed that the topic was secretly only what Butler cared about I would have answered differently.

It never fails to amaze me how few sports fans are capable of analysis without resorting to a purely emotional response.

Based on this apparent line of reasoning (actually avoiding reasoning), I would assume that now Butler fans would have to agree that La Salle is a better team than Butler based on the one game outcome without consideration of anything else. It would also follow that La Salle is better than every team in Indiana based on this way of thinking (actually avoiding thinking). The topic was worthy of discussion and my argument may not be persuasive but just saying what Butler cared about is similar to an eight year old saying "Superman can beat up Batman, because I like Superman better."

You beat me to this one, Kabira.

Coach K took a 27-point loss up the chute tonight also.

Strange days have found us, indeed.

Glad to see that someone understands the difference between an opinion based on some kind of thought process and one based on likes and dislikes.

Last in Big Ten to No 7 in nation? Yeah you're right. He has really stunk up the place. IU has gone nowhere.

18-2, leading the B1G and Freed is still bitching about TC? Amazing. John, you are bigger cry baby than Izzo and Ryan combined. I have seen lots of agendas concerning coach, nothing like you though. Butler is looking for a few good fans. Move on over to the dark side, John. Just pathetic.

RE: Is Butler the best in the state?

Jimmy Crews and his St. Louis Billikens just hung a 75-58 loss on #9 Butler. 23 turnovers for the Bulldogs, 14 steals by SLU, these are the most lopsided stats apart from the score.

Crews has a very nice-looking team, and tonight was simply their night. Figure it's gonna happen again.

Watched most of the game, and from what I saw, SLU just beat Butler at their own game. They totally manhandled them on both ends of the court. The Butler players were actually looking frustrated, which is usually what they do to opposing players. Was happy for Crews.

A highly accurate post in my opinion. Perhaps Butler was a little smug going into the game.
