Indiana-Penn State

Penn State is coming off a road loss but a very good effort at Wisconsin.  Without Tim Frazier, their chances of finishing in the top half of the B1G are negligible--but we'll need to keep a hand in the face of guards Newbill and Marshall tonight or they can make it more interesting than we want it to be.

PSU is a good rebounding team, so hopefully Perea and Jurkin will take notes and get some valuable game experience.  You can expect the reversible jacket fans to be tuning out midway through the second half.  If things go the way we want, this one may be over by then anyway.

Take nothing for granted on the road in the B1G.

24-8 IU at the under 12:00, primarily due to Watford and Hulls. Victor has been quiet except for a 3-pointer and a board. Cody with the sweet defensive move hedging on the PSU point guard, stealing the ball, and finishing for his only points of the first 8 minutes.

Not a raucous crowd at the Bryce Jordan Center, but IU is doing what they need to do to keep them out of it so far.

44-27 at the half. Watford leads the team in points with 13, rebounds with 5. Jordy's shooting eye is back, he has 10 big points, and Zeller chipped in 7. Remy also has 7 quiet points at the break.

Perea and Hollowell got a some minutes, but still do not look anywhere near comfortable. Hope they can get back in and relax a bit, let the game come to them. Hanner is saddled with three fouls, two of which resulted in and-1's. With Elston gimpy again, we could certainly use these guys--Minnesota comes calling on Saturday.

Well, that second half was about as ugly as the first half was sweet, but both teams played pretty tenacious defense.  I'm not sure I believe ESPN's stats, but they're showing that IU outrebounded PSU by 1.  PSU rebounded about as well as any team we've seen this year.  Six turnovers for Victor and 17 for the team do seem credible, however, as do 13 offensive boards for PSU.  And even if they're called "free" throws, they can potentially be very costly:

As bad as it was, the Domers who left to watch BCS title game probably wish they hadn't.  Not very pretty.  This, on the other hand, deserves another look. Ay caramba!
