Indiana-Central Connecticut State

Indiana-Central Connecticut State

Tipoff at 6:00 pm EST.  CCS boasts the leading scorer in the nation in Kyle Vinales at 26 ppg.  The 6'1", 180# guard shoots 42% from three-point land, but also likes to drive the lane.  Will be an interesting test of Yogi's and Jordy's developing defensive prowess--and of course there's Victor in reserve if things start to get out of hand.

Not a lot of size on the CCS squad, expect us to be feeding the post early.  Should be the last game of the suspension for Perea and Jurkin, at long last.

Then, another slow week without a game until next Saturday vs. Butler.  It is finals week, however, so the student athletes could use the time to study.  Bet we could draw a nice crowd for an intrasquad scrimmage.

Tough loss for Purdue today, 47-44 to Eastern Michigan. The Boilers trailed by 10 at the 8:27 mark in the second half, and did a nice job defensively to hold EM to only three free throws the rest of the way--but scored only 10 points themselves to come up three short at the buzzer.

Credit Painter for taking his team on the road for the OOC game, but figure he thought this one would end up in the left-hand column. That's the way the cupcake crumbles, sometimes.

Not messing around tonight. Victor on Vinales from the get-go in the man-to-man. Throwing the press at them, even some zone in the first four minutes. This CCS team is surprisingly quick, see how long they can keep their energy up as IU's depth comes into play.

9-8 IU at the under 16:00. Vinales with 4.

Now 37-18 at the under 8:00. Vinales still with 4 points, gonna see Sheeladipo in his sleep tonight. We're 3-3 from 3, 15-21 from the field.

Hope the football recruits are impressed. The basketball program doesn't need any help right now.

Still a 19-point lead at the half, Vinales still with only 4, visibly frustrated. We had a little dry spell around the injury to Austin Etherington and CCS had a little 8-0 run to keep the lead under 20 at the break.

Sobering moment with the injury to Etherington, looked like he bumped knees with the CCS player, didn't appear to twist it, but the replay view was not clear as to what happened. Bumping knees can be brutally painful--but the way he writhed in pain you have to consider a hyper-extension or even a fractured patella as a possibility.

Oladipo with insane energy in that half, Yogi returned to form as a scorer as well as a distributor. Not surprising, Cody leads the team with 13 points and 7 boards. Watford had a nice start, Sheehey doing it on both ends. Would like to see Hollowell step up in the second half.

Fingers crossed for A.E.

Dustin Dopirak on Hoosier Scoop is citing sources that say Etherington has a fractured kneecap.  Lousy break for the kid.  Nothing official from the powers that be, but it does stand to reason.  I believe that he could qualify for a medical redshirt:
